Hi Everybody!
Hope your week has started well. Spring has deserted us here and it was cold, wet and windy, a real blast from the winter which I had hoped was past. But sooner or later it has to get better!
Today a new challenge is beginning at TIOT - 1960s Retro, and anything retro goes - the decade with all its fashions or whatever, and all sorts of projects are allowed. My journal page is a flashback to the late 60s-70s, the time of peace, love, bright colours, bell-bottom trousers, Beatles, Abba, magic mushrooms and much, much more. I painted an A3 journal page with gesso and sprinkled brushos while it was still wet. I used a home made stencil to draw the dancing queen, and painted her with black gesso and gave her a sprinkling of fairy dust. I added some of the typical words and symbols of the time. I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, Favourite poem or quote and to Simon Monday Challenge, anything goes.
My little winged visitors are still enjoying their food every day, and I enjoy watching their antics.
Even the horses needed their warm coats today:
The flower shop is my favourite shop in our little town
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.
nice look back with that page! Sorry it's gone cold there, it is supposed to be warm the rest of the week here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun retro page, love your dancing queen. Nice to hear Abba again, too. Beautiful photos, good that the horses have coats! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteIch liebe Deine Seite! Herrlich!

ReplyDeleteYour page is totally groovy dear Valerie...you captured a time and place perfectly!!!
Oh that flower shop makes my heart go pitter pat...
I would find a reason to walk past it every day!
The one good thing I am finding about a cooler spring is that the blossoms stay longer and that makes me happy even if I have to wear a coat ♥
oxo
I do pass it everyday, mostly more than once!
DeleteHi Valerie - yes it's cold here too .. sunny, but cold. The little flower shop is quite delightful .. and our little birds - the tits enjoying their fat ball ... the journal is brilliantly coloured - appropriate for the CND usage .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI do love the art and what memories it opens ♥ Great photos again... Here's hoping your warmer days return...ours are slowly getting better.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Spring will find you again and hopefully quickly! Your journal page is as always fabulous! I love the Retro look of the 60's captured! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, So enjoying the video!! Love your creation and the walk down memory lane it gives.
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful photos too. Our weather is the same today. Wet, cold and we are asking where did spring go????
Have a nice day.
Hugs, CM
LoVe this Valerie! I will be humming the song for the rest of the day though! lol! Weather has gone wintery here, snow, hail, rain, then strangely, bright sunshine in between! Lucky you having the flower shop so near! One of the things we notice on our visits to Europe is the way flower shops always have such lovely displays! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYay! Love this. One of my favourite 70s songs. Your page is perfect.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Teresa
Perfect journal page for the "Dancing Queen." It reminded me of a time when our daughter had long hair but it was curly so she would put her head next to the ironing board and iron it to get the curls out. She so wanted to have straight hair but now appreciates the curls and not having to do much but wash and dry it. Wish I had some of her curls. Enjoyed the photos as always and hopes your day tomorrow is a bit warmer.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
C
