Hi Everybody!
Yesterday went by quicker than I can think, where does the time go?
For 'Inspired by the Masters' at Art Journal Journey I have once again been inspired by Modigliani. His very expressive portraits have really got me in their clutches just now! I used an A3 brush-wipe, smear, spray and drip page for the background. The page was rather crinkled, as it had been squashed under something else, so I ironed it. Now I have the good feeling that I really did some ironing this week! I drew the portrait onto paper, painted it with water-colours and pastels, fussy cut it and glued it to the background. I added some more pastels round the head to make it blend better with the background. I love the quote of Modigliani that I have used here. I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted as always by Eva and Kristin.
This morning started off well:
This blackbird is always the first in the queue for breakfast:
The hawk was dosing in the tree:
Met this thrush down by the river:
The water is wide and getting wider:
I'm glad I'm not standing by the pole taking my pictures:
And I love this lamp in the middle of the trees:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Was für ein herrliches Portrait und ich bin stolz auf Dich, dass Du gebügelt hast diese Woche...lol!
ReplyDeleteJulia hat mir so einen netten Spruch gesagt gestern:
Mein Wäscheplan:
Waschen - dann mal
zusammenlegen- vielleicht dann irgendwann mal
bügeln - hi hi hi
Die Seite ist ein Traum und Deine Fotos auch Valerie!
Einen wunderschönen Donnerstag!

Ihr Plan ist ganz nach meinem Geschmack!
DeleteBeautiful interpretation today! Hope the water stops rising soon. Interesting placement of that lamp.
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying popping round to see your latest work of art. great work today, I am a fan of the white writing and love the expression on your bloke :). Your photos are, as always, are inspiring :) I love the one where the lamp looks like it is randomly growing in amongst the trees :) I expect to see the characters from Narnia :) T x

Wow Valerie this is fab! I love your background and the translucent quality of your image. I knew nothing about this guy so had to google him to find out more - most artists have tortured lives don't they- I'm glad I just play with bits of paper lol xx
ReplyDeleteYes, a lot really had hard lives.
DeleteThis is gorgeous. I really like how you wrap your words around the image, as though they are embracing the person.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Teresa
Liebe Valerie, deine Modigliani sind traumschön. Immer wieder neu interpretiert...
ReplyDeleteDanke für Deine Worte bei mir, ich denke, du hast den Nagel auf den Kopf getroffen.
Liebe Grüße zu dir

Love your journal page today!!!! That lamp is very interesting... looks like the trees just grew up and around it.
ReplyDeleteLove your page, and the quote too, it looks lovely the way you print it around your subject like that too. Big hugs, ~Diane
ReplyDeleteWow - das ist ja wieder fantastisch!!!! Ganz liebe Grüße, Dagmar
ReplyDeleteWhat personalities your two Modiglianis have, they are quite a pair, maybe a couple? They do look tired out, maybe they've been doing too much ironing. These are quite remarkable portraits with their intense colour.
ReplyDeleteI never know what kind of art I will find here, such a huge variety day after day.
Congratulations on your new DT spot, I think you'll have lots of fun over there too.
Well I certainly didn't do too much ironing, but I still feel tired....
ReplyDeleteFabulous artwork Valerie and the dozing hawk really made me smile.
ReplyDeleteHello from the wild, wet and windy South Coast!!!

Wow Valerie, another AMAZING portrait! Stunning expression in his face! Love how he sits on that colourful background. The tissue tape looks great on there too, Modigliani perfection, I think this is one of my all time favourite pieces of yours!

When the inspiration strikes- Paint!! Love this one also- Your backgrounds are just gorgeous! xo
ReplyDeleteYou really are a wonderful artist Valerie. Boy do I ever love this piece and the quote - wow! I am so used to hearing " it's your duty to do this ... it's your duty to do that .... do your duty". I have never once heard " it's my duty to save my dream". It is very nice to actually hear those words. As always, wonderful post!

Another great painting. They really are luminous -the colours are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful work,
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these Modigliani inspired pieces...just gorgeous!! And thats the best kind of ironing to do in my books... I rarely iron anymore...except if my paints are wrinkled!!

I love this Valerie. At first sight I thought you had superimposed one of his works on your background. Great work!. I am a fan of Modigliani and did a piece for AJJ 'Inspired by the Masters' last time around. I am hoping to fit another in before time runs out for this months challenge.
ReplyDeletewonderful photographs and artwork.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting this painting! Lovely birds, pretty pictures!
ReplyDeleteWet, wet, wet. Same here in Finland, the water has risen a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love the color world in your work, it's so intense and powerful, Valerie!!
