Hi Everybody!
Hope you are having a good day whatever you are up to!
I think the Meadows looked a little less flooded today, let's hope the water is really receding.
For 'Inspired by the Masters' at Art Journal Journey I have once again chosen Modigliani as my inspiration. I have one more finished, too, but it is hard to stop - the more I look at his paintings, the more they fascinate me! I used a large sheet of black card for the background, a little larger than A3. I must have used it at some time as an underlay sheet while painting, as it had spots and streaks of colour all over it. I added more colours with pastel chalks, and left the green streaks at the bottom as decoration. I painted the lady, Jeanne Hebuterne, with water colours and pastel chalks, and then glued her to the background. Then I had a little mishap with some drops of coffee that splashed onto her, but okay, it's art journaling and not for the family portrait gallery! I wrote the quote from Modigliani underneath this time, as it was too long to go around her head. I have had great fun this week spending time with Modigliani!
I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted as always by Eva and Kristin, and to Moo Mania and More, anything goes.
The ducks and geese are really enjoying the flooded meadows by the Rhine:
And these 2 dogs had great fun chasing each other through thewater and splashing around!
A lot of the trees are covered in toadstools:
The fire/grill place is a bit too wet to use just now!
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
such a beautful painting, the richness of the color, the flow of her pose, its just beautiful, your photos are wonderful as well, the geese stand out strong!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely painting. The colours really seem to glow and the green steaks at the bottom absolutely look like they belong there
DeleteYou and M are a match made in heaven I think... another amazing creation, - love the movement in her body, - stunning!
I just love the artwork today and the fact that you left the coffee drips on it makes it even more special I think. The eye sockets and the beads are wonderful in the same colour.
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs and the ducks look happier today and the dogs are having a fun time I reckon.
Hope today is just as good for you
Love Chrissie
I love it !! She is amazing, coffee and all!! EEKS that water is higher than last I saw it!! Pray it recedes...
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
It's dropping now.
DeleteAnother Wow Valerie, she has such a beautiful face. Have a great Friday. xx
ReplyDeleteExquisite your inspiration Modigliani, beautiful face. Nice pictures of the geese!
ReplyDeleteGreat background, beautiful lines...Lovely work!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have more than enough seawater right now and it's raining more plus all the snow melting...But we get light more day by day, jeeee!
This portrait is really marvellous - maybe one of your best? The green streaks at the bottom and the blue at the top and sides and the intensely coloured background set it off so well. What an idea to use black card and A3 too - maybe I'll have to try that one day.
ReplyDeleteEine wundervolle Kreation und Deine Fotos sind wieder erste Sahne.
ReplyDeleteLove your piece today, she is so poised!! Great photos, that toadstool shot is great! Happy weekend to you, big hugs until next time :)
ReplyDeleteYou really have a talent in catching a mood in your art--love it!

ReplyDeleteWonderful interpretation!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful painting. Big hugs, ~Diane
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, you did a great job!! Did you see the movie about Modigliani? It's really a must watch. At first he didn't paint the eyes, until he could see into their soul... and finally he DID paint the eyes, like you did. Awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome painting! He is one of my favorite painters, you did good!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting and your background is so rich in colour and texture. Happy PPF.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is awesome, Valerie. Love the beautiful colors. :)

ReplyDeleteDeine Modigliani Dame ist wunderschön! Die Farben gefallen mir sehr!

Hoffe das Wasser geht bald zurück!
Schönes Wochenende und herzliche Grüsse
Ilona
your portrait is brilliant Valerie!
ReplyDeleteThose faces are very alluring- I agree with you. This lady in particular. This is a beautiful tribute page.
ReplyDeleteYour journal page today is a favorite. I like the drawing you made of Jeanne Hebuterne along with the hat which must be a trademark of Modigliani. Your photo of the fungi on the tree is phenomenal with the color contrasts. It is raining hard here today; it is dismal.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
c
A very thought-provoking quote... and her skin glows! Beautiful combination of colors.
