T sTands for Fish and Chips

Hi Everybody!

I enjoyed my long weekend, spent time with a friend, we went out to dinner and apart from that I was really lazy and that was good. I will try to catch up with comments in the next couple of days.

This evening we will be celebrating Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday link party, so  here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who vist here.As I said at the beginning, we went out for dinner on Friday evening and I really had fish and chips, what a delight!

This is my lovely friend Heike showing our drinks - we both had alcohol free white beer as usual:

And here it is - a huge plate of fried fish and chips, so delicious:

Heike ate a 'Schweinshaxe', an oven baked pork knuckle served tradtionally with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes:

And I mustn't forget the lovely salad:

Inspired by my wonderful food, I made this painting for Mia's fish challenge at AJJ. I glued pieces of newspaper around the page, as it was traditionally served in newspaper. I didn't have any English newspapers, so had to use my daily paper:

We have had lots of dark clouds in the past days:

My balcony flowers are all blue and yellow:

On one evening I heard the crows all making a huge noise, and looked out of the window and saw a blue heron sitting in the tree, and the crows kept up their mobbing unti the heron flew back to the stream. They have their young in a nearby tree and were evidently worried. Sorry for the bad photos, shaky fingers are not good for making quick photos:

And some thinkies / funnies:

Have a great week, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. Great fish and chips art piece Valerie! I had the same meal as your friend when we were taken to a restaurant in Dusseldorf, the pork knuckle was amazing, not so keen on the sauerkraut though xx

    1. I can imagine you eating your pork knuckle here! It's one of the traditional foods served here, I like Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, but not the meat!

  4. That fish and chips look delicious. It is a favorite meal of mine. And what a fun art page. I love how you glued the newspapers down for the background. And then that fish is lots of fun! It is a very clever take on Mia's challenge. I wouldn't think of making a page about a delicious meal, but I should. I'm glad to hear you had a good weekend, and happy early T day and new week to you. Hugs-Erika

  10. Both meals looks delicious, Valerie, but I think I might have chosen the fish and chips. Good fish and chips are a real treat, as is your art piece. One can rely on your art being first rate, and that is not always the case with fish and chips. Sometimes the thickness of the batter seems to exceed the fish and if the fries are not crisp and firm that's a great sin. On our recent excursion to PEI and NB we had some excellent fish and chips. I am of course happy that you included some photographs of birds, and even taken with a shaky hand you can always claim that the wind was blowing the branches, and say that you are very happy with the results you achieved. Miriam has been commanded to appear for jury selection this morning, so I will have to drop her off at the courthouse. We are hoping that she does not get selected, but we have no control over that. Take good care of yourself. Hugs and kisses - David

    1. The fish and chips were really delicious, David, it was red fish (Rotbarsch) dipped in egg and fried, so yummy! Definitely the best fish and chips I've had in a long time! Okay the wind was blowing the branches! I was impressed how the crows ganged up to get rid of the intruding heron. I hope Miriam can avoid jury duty, that's no fun! Have a wonderful week, take care, BIG hugs!

    2. I never have them close enough to notice the noise, which I guess is a mixed blessing lol

  15. Your fish & chips really look delicious! I notice your drinks are on beermats which I just did a strange piece of research about. The original cardboard ad coasters/ beermats were invented in Germany, I learned.

  28. Your fish and chips look delicious, I would have chosen that as well. YOur page is lovely (didn't expect anything less), but I doubt that the fish will be eaten - who can if it looks at you in such a cute way? We often see crows here ganging up against hawks who are, of course, after their offspring. It's quite impressive how the smaller birds succeed in chasing the much bigger hawk. Happy T day to you!

  31. I've been without electricity since about 6:30 pm yesterday. Never so glad to get my AC and internet back.

Your fish and chips look so very good, but I am not a friend of pork even before I became a vegetarian. However, it goes so well with your AJJ entry of fish and chips. Love how it goes with Mia's theme, too.

Your balcony flowers are beautiful, your sky and bird photos are great, and your funnies/thinkies are adorable. My favorite is the cat in the Cat.

Thanks for sharing your non-alcoholic beer, your meal, your AJJ entry, your balcony flowers, the funnies, and your photos with is for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

  32. Oh fish & chips! What a lovely meal! I think I'll give the Schweinshaxe a miss. (Actually I featured a similar dish in my blogpost).
Your post is full of wonderful animals: the fish in your art, the birds in the photos and the cats in your funnies/thinkies. I love the cat poem. I think I will forward that to a dear friend if you don't mind.
    Happy belated T-Day,
