Midweek post

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well. We have had some cold weather this past couple of days, but today the sun is shining and I am looking forward to getting out for my morning walk. Thanks to all who asked about my fingers. They're still very painful, and I am trying to type with 2 fingers of my left hand and my right thumb - a bit slow, but it works!

For Paint Party Friday I have another A3 (18" x 12") mixed media collage. I started off with a mop up page onto which I had scribbled a bit with water colours. Then I added some textile scraps and did some background sewing before collaging it with scraps of TH tissue and Jan Davenport tissues. I love the textures from the underlying textiles. I finished it with 3 rows of crazy stitching round the edges. I am a bit frustrated just now as I have several other things I would like to get on with and can't, but I suppose I should be happy that I have a pile of finished pieces to show:

The painted page with the textile add-ons:

I am also linking to Simon Monday Challenge, play with paint.

And I have another tag for our 'Birds, nests and eggs' themes at Tag Tuesday. Once again I used a painted and textured background onto which I collaged some rusty die-cuts. I often see rusty bikes and objects in people's gardens, filled with flowers, so it inspired this tag, where the chicken is nesting here. The birds were drawn with a Dina Wakley stencil. I used twigs and dried grass fibres for the nest:

Some pictures from my walks:

Old houses and church in Kalkum:

The gateway into the castle grounds:

That's all for today! Have a great one, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. Sorry about your fingers. Have they been able to diagnose what it is yet? I love your page today. The colors are wonderful and the textures and images works together really well. The chicken tag is cute too. Does this tag challenge need bird, nest and eggs or can you do part of that list? Still loving your spring while waiting for ours to arrive.Happy Wednesday. Hugs-Erika

  5. Wonderful colors and textures on your page. I enjoyed seeing the process. I'm amazed at how people can take a rusty object plant flowers in it and they create a natural sculpture. Your tag made me smile to think of a chicken nesting in a bicycle basket. Your moon pictures are just glorious. I got out of class after the moon rise so the moon just looked like an ordinary full moon. The pictures from you walk are giving me Spring fever. Take care.

    Sabine 😘🐝

  19. Lovely to see the base layer to your mixed media A3 Valerie, sometimes those elements can get lost and almost forgotten with each layer applied. Wonderful fibres and stitched layers. A beautiful walk along side you with your photographs, open windows taking in the air of the day. A sign that warmer weather is on it's way.
You are doing so well with your fingers Valerie, I hope there will soon be a solution to help take the pain away from those hurty fingers :(
Hugs for the day & Happy PPF, I do not think I will be around to join this week but will try and visit if I can.

  24. The eyes really have it for this latest mixed media entry. It is fabulous, and of course, the sewing is what takes it over the top.

I love the tag, especially because of the rusty bike. You say rust and my heart starts to pitter patter.

Beautiful photos from your area. I was especially drawn to the weeping willow. I had one in my yard in MO and loved it. Hope you are feeling better and the doctors can find out what is wrong with your fingers and toes.
