Birds, but not from Hitchcock

Hi Everybody!

It's nearly weekend, so for all of you who have been working hard all week, have a good one! It's rather wild and windy weather here again. Blue skies and grey ones, dark clouds and fluffy white ones are chasing each other away, and I have been spending time this week watching the gulls, ducks, geese and swans at the Rhine. I have an A3 mixed media journal page to share, where sky, water, birds and fish are all happy together. I used acrylic paint, stamping, doodling, washi tape,  and collaged some robins, die cuts and vintage German scrap, as well as some scraps of paper. The writing was done with a white highlighter pen. I am linking to Paint Party Friday, which is celebrating its 8th birthday this week:

The windy weather and plenty of water in the Rhine is a magnet for the water birds:

I love how they sit in straight rows:

Sometimes they just seem to float along the river, going with the flow. Perhaps they are fishing?

The swans are mostly on the lakes and not at the Rhine, but sometimes they like to visit:

The wild geese always make a lot of noise, sometimes even more than the gulls and crows together:

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  5. Your blog title made me laugh. A lot more peaceful than Hitch's movie. Love the quote. Your area is so beautiful, and I enjoy the pictures you take on your walks. The seagulls sitting on the railing always make me think they are waiting for a ferry. Have a good weekend.

    1. They probably are waiting for the boat, people sometimes have food and the gulls are always hungry.

  10. Hi there Valerie. Lovely to see your page with its sayings and birds and I like the fishies too :D)
You can have some great walks by the river. The photos you've taken are lovely and, yes, I too often see the birds all sitting side by side on a pier, jetty or fence over here as well and it makes me smile. A couple of photos of seagulls with trees in the foreground seems like the gulls could be blossoms in the trees (my eyes sometimes blur but it makes for fun such as that ;D)).
I loved seeing all the wild geese too xx

  14. I was taken by how much your journal page where birds and fish lived in harmony, matched the birds on the Rhine, who also seemed to live harmoniously. Great photos and wonderful art, too, dear Valerie.

  16. I love the sound of silence, I find it so energising helping my mind process and plan the day ahead. Unlike the birds in you photographs, I be they are having one big party with all their chatter hee hee!! Beautiful documented art makes for a great page Valerie.
Wishing you a super weekend full of creativity & a moment of silence :))
Happy PPF I nearly missed this one xx

  24. Fabulous MM page Valerie, that blue background is wonderful and I love how you added all the other elements, they seem to reflect some of your bird watching experienes this week... The fishes are fun too! Great photos, specially love those wild geese, we never really see those here (at least I don't).
Miserable grey, rainy and cold weather here, so great to see some bright blue skies and art work...
Happy Sunday and have a wonderful week ahead!
