Hi Everybody!
At More Mixed Media we are starting a new challenge on Wednesday. As always, our challenges are anything goes, this time with optional brown. You have 4 weeks to join us, so hope to see you there. I made a double spread in my journal. The background was painted with a mix of gesso and Titan Buff. The deer images were added with a serviette. I used a sponge to dab some colours - green-gold, titan buff and sienna onto the background. When it was dry I stamped some plants using Adirondack espresso to look like bushes. The hearts were stenciled and the sentiment was hand written. I will also be linking to Paint Party Friday:
On Sunday there was a wonderful sunrise:
As we drove into Neviges on Sunday morning we had a great view of the towers and walls of Hardenberg Castle:
This used to be the station, now it's a restaurant:
Some images of the picturesque streets and houses:
Lots more photos to follow!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Gorgeous nature spread and sunrise. Thanks for the tour thus far, how thick those castle walls are.
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is fabulous. Love that texture. Great photographs of the architecture. My favourite is that sunrise, however. Just stunning.
ReplyDeleteHi Val, your journal pages are fantastic, such a pretty scene. Wonderful photos, too, Neviges is a beautiful place, I love the old Half-timbered houses. Great that you enjoyed your day so much. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteYou made a fabulous journal entry. I love the beiges, browns, and buff you chose for your lovely nature inspired deer. It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOH WOW. That is a fabulous and most impressive town you visited. Colorful and beautiful, and so unique and different. I worry that wall outside the castle might fall one day, though. It looks like it is deteriorating. Regardless, I'm LOVING this latest series of photos!!
The damage was done by canon balls a few hundred years back, but it won't fall down in a hurry!
DeleteThis piece just sucked me in.
ReplyDeleteThe sunrise...glorious and I loved our stroll:)
Hugs
It is a gorgeous nature inspired journal spread Valerie, lovely colours with just a tinge of autumn shades.
ReplyDeleteThe photos looked wonderful, I do enjoy visiting with you these lovely destinations. The half timbered houses look lovely, I think they would take a lot of looking after to keep them in such good repair.

ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
Such a lovely page. Makes me think of the time when the girlies were little and we saw some deer emerging through the early morning fog from the woods behind the house. The sunrise photos are awesome. Love the town and the half-timbered houses and the mix of old with the very modern fountain. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork! (As always.) What's really neat about your work is it isn't just lovely to look at; it also sends a message.
ReplyDeleteThere's a town named Helen located in the northern mountains of our state that's designed to look like a Bavarian village. We spent a long weekend there once, and as delightful as it was to see and experience everything there, (and EAT!!!) seeing your pics of the real thing is even better. And you even have real castles! (How cool is THAT???)
Thanks Susan, we have an abundance of castles and castle ruins here, and however often I see them, I'm never bored.
DeleteI love your sunrise.
ReplyDeleteThat castle and station and those streetscapes look like the setting for an old folktale. Thanks for sharing all these photos :)
