Wings, water, hay and a horse

Hi everybody!
The weekend is almost over, so wish you all a good start in the new week tomorrow.

Thanks to all who sent good wishes for my thumb, it is still painful, and the joints are very inflamed. On July 7th I have an appointment at a hand surgeon to see what he suggests.

I used an 8" tag here, which was painted with a mix of blue and green acrylics, background stamped with a script stamp, and then embossed using a CWS stencil and structure paste. Then I added my old letter fragments to the background, and had a fun time sticking on some gilding flakes - my thumb-splint looks pretty now, too. The dress form is a TH die cut, as are the dragonfly wings. The top parts were cut from black card, which I gilded, and the underparts of the wings from the covers of an old passport from Uruguay. I added a cameo for her head, and her hair/headdress has been made with half a tattered florals flower, painted and Stickled. This was fun to make!

I am linking to Simons Monday Challenge, anything goes, and to a Vintage Journey, wings and things, where the crafting needs to be Tim Holtz inspired.

I walked to visit 'my' ducks today, and then along the Rhine, where they were busy baling hay.

A lot of people were taking a trip on the little boat:

And the horses were happy on their meadow as always.
I love this one!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  12. Lovely trip around your area again Valerie--so much summer colours in your photographs and always a joy to see them.

The tag is stunning with a lot of impact. I was drawn to the face and would never have thought to use a cameo in this way.

Have a great day and try to rest your thumb :)

  19. Your tag looks delightful - it also looks like you had fun with it and so glad you got to decorate your thumb! Your wings are gorgeous and I love that cameo.
As always wonderful pictures and so much fun to see.
I had a friend some time ago that had arthritis and she kept a jar of raisins soaked in gin on her counter
and she would eat like 5 or so a day. She said it really helped. Then I saw an article about that very thing and it said something about the combination of the gin and raisins forming a chemical that help with stiffness - inflammation and or pain. It would be a fun experiment!

    1. Now that really sounds like a fun cure - I think if you take enough of it you wouldn't care any more if it hurt or not! 5 raisins or 5 glasses of gin and raisins?!

    2. No, no, no! Put a bunch of raisins in a glass jar with a lid and fill to the tip with gin. Keep jar closed. Every day take out at least 5 raisins and eat them - you can keep filling the jar with whatever is starting to run low. I think the raisins are supposed to be pretty well soaked with gin! You crazy lady -- you need your thumb for typing unless you could teach your other thumb how to fill in.

  20. Hi Valerie, I am so sorry your thumb is still inflamed. I hope the dr. visit goes well with the best outcome.
Love your tag and the wings on the dress form with cameo is such a creative idea.
The gin and raisin procedure for arthritic inflammation does work for some. I have heard of this years ago. Only 5 raisins however!! LOL
    Hope you feel better soon.

  21. Oh, this is gorgeous Valerie, I really love that cameo you've used. I can just imagine when you turn up at the hospital with your gilded splint! BTW, Bondaweb is like an iron on stiffener, got glue on blue sides that's activated with heat. Goes by various names but Bondaweb is a common one in the UK. Xx
Aagh, I mean both sides, not blue sides!

  28. Hope the Dr. has some intelligent things to say which will result in a solution you can live with. The tag is lovely - better weight it down so she doesn't suddenly discover how to use her wings. Lovely walk along the Rhine. WANT the horse. xoDonna
