Hi everybody!
We were blessed with good weather again today, so hope you were too!
I have another tag to share today, made with some of the UFOs (untidy flying-around objects) from my work table. I started as usual with cardboard, which was peeled and gessoed. The gesso was probably a waste of time, as the linen covers most of it, but I wanted to use the pretty printed linen. Next mistake - the image and matting nicely covers up the printed part of the linen. Oh well, perhaps it was not to be! The image is mounted onto some very distressed coredinations paper, and has a scrap of DP as matting. I used a piece of my beautiful lace and a button as embellishments. I am linking to Simon Monday Challenge, 'Use it'
And now I have some edible art to share - the jam I made at the weekend. I went to the fruit shop an hour before closing time, and waited on a bench till they put out the sign, 'strawberries half price' before filling my basket.
I mixed the strawberries with figs and vodka (to disinfect the fruit!), and of course spices and ginger. The first 2 jars disappeared before they could have their photo taken, and the jar with handle is reserved for a neighbour. The rest is for me, and it is really delicious!
At Moo Mania the theme this fortnight is 'cinema and movies'. This is my attempt:
And last but not least, some pictures from my walk along the Rhine today:
This is the first time I have seen a swan in the river:
And of course, the horses were waiting to have their photos taken:
That was it for today!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
DeleteLovely tag, your vintage things are always great. Had to laugh over your moo-mania piece, but you are sooo right! Great photos again, too! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteMy kind of Vintage card Valerie. Love the image and the layout suits it perfectly. Love your Moo card too, but best of all are beautiful wild flowers and the horses. How is the sore thumb doing?. Hugs Rita xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's very sore and I haven't been resting it enough - tomorrow I will be good!
DeleteA fabulous Moo Valerie and your vintage tag is gorgeous. Your jam looks delicious, wish I could pop over for afternoon tea! Xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous vintage piece, the layers although covered up look beautiful under the main image. Great words on the moo project and as for the boozy jam, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
how very romantic.EE
ReplyDeleteAdore the linen piece - a secret delight of mine. Looks Fab! Love that you used your own photo in the film strip - and of course it was lovely to walk with you today. So many horses in your area. Why do they raise them? Breeding? Racing? etc. etc. etc. Interesting
ReplyDeletehugs, Donna
A lot of people ride and we have lots stables round about.
DeleteRight up my street and I like the way you layered it with the linen and oh that jam looks so lovely.
ReplyDeleteHaving all manner of issues with blogger dashboard, none of my favourite blogs are showing. So disappointed as I was trying to catch-up with as many friends as possible.
Wishes
Lynne
FABULOUS!!! Specially love that first piece, such a yummy vintage image and beautifully made with the inclusion of those fabric pieces! The jam looks amazing too and I bet it tastes delicious, - and of course the photos are wonderful like always.

ReplyDeleteThe Journey is the Start
Looks like you've been busy. Love your tag. The burlap frame really finishes it off.
ReplyDeleteI always have trouble when I try to make interesting layers-with covering up the previous layer too much. Your tag still shows all the lovely layers. I like the Be a Star piece! Thanks for taking up on your walk today!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you have been busy with your three "F's". Love all three of your art pieces!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your lace card, jam you made and your flowers. Dropped in to say Hello from Three Muses Entry.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures and love the post, the card has a wonderful vintage feel. The jams look so yummy.
ReplyDeleteHugs diane
All viewed on your blog today is "delicious" from your beautiful tag, to luscious jam and photos that brighten my morning. When you put ginger in your jam, is it a spice or real root ginger?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Carolyn
Beautiful tag as always dear Valerie. Hope your hands are doing better. I have what they call trigger finger on both my middle fingers and when they want to lock up, boy does it hurt. As I said beautiful tag and delicious looking jam and I always love the walks on the Rhine. I think of Vincent and then of course you because you take such great photos. Have a wonderful rest of the week, see you on Friday. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThe tag is gorgeous! It's very pretty. I love your jam too! What an awesome combination. I'll bet it's delicious :)
ReplyDeleteAnother magical tag -- if you had not done all the steps you did it certainly would not have been the same. I like seeing the white gesso peeking out and the linen only adds to the romance. The lace really is gorgeous. Speaking of gorgeous - look at your very special jam. You smart lady. I know you are popular with your neighbors!! It fascinates me all the places you have to pick out things - bins for used magazines and boxes of fabric cuttings. Since most of our markets stay open all night are until late at night, you do not find mark downs then. And then we have to consider the price of gas as we race up and down the mountain. We have to make the trip worth it.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the thumb. I see you have elected to use strawberry, fig and vodka jam over raisins and jam. I will be interested to see what your doctor has to say. And it always amazes me how many views you get on your walk. I like seeing your pictures a lot Valerie.
Bye for now kid.
Sandy xx
Wow, your creativity always leaves me a bit speechless, I love that filmstrip of you, so very clever! The beautiful piece with the linen backing is stunning also. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk in the sunshine and that strawberry jam has me running to the kitchen for lunch! ~Diane
ReplyDeleteDa hast du ja wieder eine Menge zu zeigen. Eine tolle Karte, leckere Marmelade, ein geniales digitales Werk und schöne Fotos von deinem Spaziergang :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mixed media piece Valerie. Wonderful aged and vintage look to it. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the burlap and vintage photo. Love it. Wish I could still find time to do preserves and can. Yum. The cinema card is nice and the pictures are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tag Valerie. So romantic. It would make a beautiful, albeit unusual, aniversary, or engagement ard :o)
ReplyDeleteYour jam looks delicious, and how wise, waiting for the price to be dropped. How long does it take to cook your jam? Do you have a recipe? I ask as I have a feeling we maybe headed for a glut of strawberries. I don;t do much cooking/baking/making but I would hate for them to spoil :D
I will mail you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWOW your tag is gorgeous. I love it and those UFO's were really put to good use. Your jam looks just so delicious. Great idea to wait for the markdown. Also what a terrific design for your movie theme. Looks look fabulous in the movies Valerie!! Love that little saying too.
ReplyDeleteYour walking pics are gorgeous. Beautiful flowers and the horses are regal.
Have a nice evening and hoping your thumb is better.
Hugs
