Morning sunshine in a cup

Hi Everybody!

Today is Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday so I
would like to extend a warm welcome to all the
😉nice 😏ladies in the T gang.

At TIOT our theme is 'celebrations', and you still
have a week to join in!

My hybrid journal page for Art Journal Journey
light and darkness, also fits the drinks theme
at Elizabeth's. I used a page overlay from Mischief circus. And as you surely know, my morning cup of sunshine is always coffee or cappuccino:

I love watching the daylight grow and the changing colours
of dawn and sunrise:

The crows always wait patiently for their breakfast:

I did a lot of baking this week. I've been practising for Christmas.
I don't celebrate Christmas or anything else for that matter,
I see no point in celebrating on my own,
but I do like baking!
This batch of oat cakes was made with mixed spice, ginger and raisins, which I 'disinfected' with some cognac:

The second batch had the same spices, but almond flakes instead of raisins.
And the squares are shortbread, yummy!
Help yourselves to what you fancy!

While I was walking along the Rhine 'Oxford' chugged by.
I looked long and hard, but neither Lewis nor Hathaway were on board:

This raven really cracked me up - it was fishing!
I have never seen a raven doing that before, it seems to be learning from the gulls and ducks:

If you would like to see the Christmas Market photos from yesterday just follow the link.

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

A visit to the Christmas Market

Hi Everybody!

Hope you have a good start in the new week.

For Art Journal Journey, light and darkness, I have another
hybrid piece,  for which I digitally combined a photo of the night sky, an old document, and a window frame and lantern. The moon and stars are from Mischief circus.

And I forgot to show my tag from last Tuesday, so here it is
as it fits very well to the theme:

Today I hopped onto the tram and went to Duisburg, a neighbouring town, to look at the Christmas Market there. The best thing for me were the delicious smells coming from the various booths.
I was there relatively early,so there were no crowds.

I am glad they didn't dress Nana up for Christmas:

There was even a skating rink:

I loved the silver trees:

I wasn't intending to eat anything, but on the way back
I smelt these delicious 'Reibekuchen' - potato cakes,
and had to eat a portion - yummy!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

More light than darkness

Hi Everybody!

For art journal journey, light and darkness, I have another hybrid/mixed media piece. The background was stenciled using diluted black paint over kraft paper.
The centre is a cut out photo of mine taken last year, and showing the church with the wonky spire and the tower in the Altstadt here. I changed the dreary background of the photo and used a photo made of the underside of a rusty tin. I added some grungy corners digitally (Serif). And if you want to know if the whole thing is meant not to be straight - well, I'm not telling....

The sunrise lured me out onto the cold balcony again this morning:

And here are a few more paintings from the Kunstpalast, all from
 the early 20th century:

 Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, 1919

  Emil Nolde, 1908

 Wassily Kandinsky, 1909

 August Macke, 1912
(A copy of this painting always hung in my classroom when I was teaching)

Franz Marc, 1913

Paul Klee, 1919

 Lionel Feininger, 1916

I will show more next time!
Have a good day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

A candle in the dark

Hi Everybody!
It's weekend, enjoy!

For Art Journal Journey, light and darkness,
I made another hybrid piece combining a mixed media background with a candle photo and a quote of Mahatma Gandhi. I love being able to combine
art and photos:

We had a wonderful sunrise again, and then the sun
disappeared behind the clouds:

On my last visit to the Kunstpalast museum I spent time viewing
the works of modern artists, including  Gotz,
Wassily Kandinsky, Oskar Schlemmer, Yaakov Agam,
 GĂźnther Haese and others.

I am enjoying my repeated visits to the museum,
visiting one room at a time.

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
