Seeing the world through new eyes

Hi Everybody!

Recently I was looking for a map in an old atlas, and discovered an old Max Factor advertisement from 1967 in it.  I cut the lady out and used her for a mixed media/ collage journal page for Art Journal Journey, Journeys

I enjoyed my walk again, and there is always plenty to see along the Rhine:

This ship is called 'Quo Vadis', and last week I made a journal page using this quote:

And here one of the 'work' ships was moored at the jetty. They go down and up the Rhine doing measurements and making sure that the waterways are safe.
This one is called Quirinus, who is the patron Saint of Neuss, a town  on the other side of the Rhine not all too far from here:

Today was Market again. The young man on the right is putting asparagus into a peeling machine, a free service that a lot of customers use to save having to peel it  at home:

The window decoration in the book shop is also decorated with a 'journeys' theme:

This man and his tractor were busy eating the daisies away:

Mid week Mix

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, Journeys, I made a page with a vintage map of London as a background. I wanted to show it last week but  put the photos into the wrong file again. Mr UM is enjoying a stroll around London, and is not used to the strange traffic there. The birds have no problems, they are free to fly as they will. And the stop sign is a reminder to stop and look around you when you are out walking, because the journey is the destination - enjoy!

The warm weather has been good for the flowers:

And the horses love it, too, but the one at the front evidently
does not like flies:

The sun and the clouds made a wonderful display again
in the early morning:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Tuesday Mix

Hi Everybody!

It's Tuesday again, which means it's time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday.
I took a vintage photo and altered it to show Mr P, who has just come back from his afternoon walk, ready to sit down to tea with his two companions, Fido and Ginger. And Billy the budgie is there, too, making sure that everything is as it should be. A big hello to all the T gang!

But I must confess, my drink is cappuccino....

We are starting a new challenge at TIOT -
Spots, splashes and dots.
The challenge last for 2 weeks, and as always, projects of all formats
are welcome, as long as they fit the theme. I made a journal spread with splashes on the background, and Mr Umbrella man has gone completely dotty, but has a good message for us. Hope to see you at TIOT!
I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, journeys.

We have had wonderful warm and sunny weather, so I have been walking through shady paths, along by the river and by the stream, and admiring the trees and spring flowers in all their glory:

And this is our 'skyscraper'. It was originally built as a bomb shelter in the second world war, and has long since been converted to flats:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Mothering Sunday

Hi Everybody!

Today Is Mothering Sunday, so here's wishing all Mothers a great day.
I made a double page in my new Journal, showing my Mother with me when I was about 1 year old. My Mother would have been 100 this year.

This is the card I made for her back in 1951, when I was not quite 5.
I know I have showed it before, but I still like it! I added the name of my brother as he had forgotten about  making something,  and he went out and picked some flowers for her.

Today I stood and watched the horses for quite some time, it's a very calming pastime. There are 2 old bath tubs there, which are always filled with fresh water, which was very popular today as the weather was really warm:

The hawthorn is blossoming just now:

And as I walked home, the cottony seeds of the poplars were floating through the air like snow. Lucky I'm not allergic.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
