Dreams.

Hi Everybody!

The weekend has sped by, and the new week is already here - have a good one!

For Art Journal Journey, the sea, I am once again showing the contents of my head - or of one of my heads, at least. This head is dreaming of the sea. I used a brush-wipe page as background. I added some  colours with Gelatos. I drew the head with one of my stencils onto some water-coloured paper and collaged it to the background. The sea-weed has been made using the waste from TH's bird-branch die cut as a stencil. The ship, anchor and lighthouse/houses have been stamped and embossed.. The white birds were doodled with a white pen, the dark ones made with Dina Wakley's stencil. There is also a stenciled dolphin. I added some colour to the 'town' with inks. This was another fun make!

The sun tried to show itself this morning, but  the clouds were more persistent.

There was just one duck swimming around:

A Sunday fisherman:

My fave path long the old walls:

And four footed friends, big and small:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

At the Seaside

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend and that the weather is being kind to you!

For Art Journal Journey, the sea, I have made a mixed media piece, 'a Bird's Eye View'. The background is water coloured, the boats, standing seagulls, the beach-hut and the back row of deckchairs have been stamped and coloured with inks, the flying seagulls and the front row of deckchairs have been collaged, and the car with the happy holiday makers was drawn and coloured with inks. I used the inks for colouring today as they have nice, bright colours. This was a fun piece to make. I am also linking to Country view crafts, simply scenic, and to Mix it Monthly, a happy couple - I have 2 happy couples of seagulls here, and a happy couple in the car!

The moon was shining yesterday evening although it was still light

And some photos from today's walk along the Rhine, always a wonderful place to be:

Jack Sparrow meets Shakespeare

Hi Everybody!

Hope you have enjoyed the first day of May. It was sunny but cold again here, and we had a wonderful sunrise.

For our new Art Journal Journey Challenge, the sea, I am sharing a rather different page to the one I made yesterday - variety is the spice of life.
The background is a scan from a water colour painting I made as a background. The wonderful image of Jack Sparrow is from Andy Skinner.
I printed it onto my background, and added the gulls, fish and the mermaid (all from the Graphics Fairy). I added colour with Gelatos, and gave him pearls (liquid pearls) for eyes to link in with 'Ariel's Song' from Shakespeare's 'Tempest. In my picture Jack is under the water with the fish and mermaids, although the borders between sky and sea don't seem to exist here. I wrote the first part of the song on my page. Those of you who actually read the text might notice my not-so-deliberate mistake of leaving out a line - sorry!

Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made; Those are pearls that were his eyes;Nothing of him that doth fade,But doth suffer a sea-changeInto something rich and strange.Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell:Ding-dong.Hark! now I hear them — Ding-dong, bell

I drew in some coral - also mentioned in the song - and even his fingers look like coral or sea plants - the sea change that Shakespeare is talking about?

I was awake very early today, and was able to watch the sun rising through a hazy and rather cloudy sky - it was beautiful, with lots of colour changes.

And last but not least - Lilly, trying to look hungry!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

The Sea - New Challenge at Art Journal Journey

Hi Everybody!

Hope you had a good day. Here it was cold and we had a lot of rain, but the sun kept trying to poke through the clouds, and in the evening we even had a rainbow.

Today we have a new challenge at Art Journal Journey. Sheila is our hostess and has chosen the theme, which gives lots of opportunities to let your fantasy swim free and surface. You can see her lovely example at our challenge blog. Hope to see lots of you taking part again and sharing your creations with us!

I am starting off with a rather spooky mixed media piece, which I have called 'The face of the Sea'. I used an A3 paper which was given a quick coat of gesso and then sprinkled with Brushos in blue, pink and lime green. I sprayed it with water to get the colours moving and dripping. I added more colour where necessary with Gelatos. I drew the face, and gave it a coat of white paint, letting the underlying colours stain through. The waves of her hair were worked with felt pens, Gelatos, water-colours and a gold gel pen. I added some fish and shells (vintage German scrap), some fuzzy gold fibres, and  drew some seaweed.

I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted, as always, by Eva and Kristin, and to Simon Monday challenge, anything goes.

Some photos of the skies in the morning and evening. The sky had a delicate, greenish tinge this morning:

The rainbow, always something special for me:

And the evening clouds rolling up:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
