Collage and fish

Hi Everybody!

Another week is flying by, and I am trying to catch
up with myself.

For Paint Party Friday I have a mixed media collage
made some weeks ago. A few months back I
cleared out a lot of old journal pages and
paintings, some of which I cut into pieces and
re-used in other pictures. The BG was painted
and textured with a brayer. I added all of my bits and
bobs and 2 figures cut from magazines,
who are wandering through the maze and
looking at everything. The face in the middle
seems to be watching the visitors....
I did lots of sewing to
hold it all together, and stenciled some diamonds
over it to bring it together. I am also linking to
Simon Monday challenge, it's a stitch up:

Recently I visited the newly opened Aquazoo
in Düsseldorf. It was closed for renovations
for nearly  2 years, so it was great to visit the
refurbished museum this time. In the entryway we were
greeted with a bust of  Theodor Löbbecke,
after whom the museum is named:

The museum follows  educational and recreational
purposes, and is very well laid out:

I loved the fossils:

There were lots of aquariums giving a glimpse into
the under-water world, it was a bit like watching
TV but it was real, and everything was moving:

I loved the colourful jelly fish, too!

More photos to follow!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Music and rust

Hi Everybody!

For Tag Tuesday I have another hybrid tag. The
background is a photo taken here looking along
 the Rhine. The other elements
were added digitally. The quote, is, of course,
from Shakespeare:

At the old steel-works in Duisburg I was wondering
what was interesting about this dark passage,
until I went it:

You can look through windows right and left and see
down into the old works. An old black and white film
shows scenes from the time when it was being
worked, and the rest is illumined by lights in bright
blue, red and green. It was rather spooky and very surreal:

Outside it seemed very grey after all the bright colours:

Spiders still seem to live there:

I loved the rusty, old machines, I'm sure Elizabeth
will love them, too!

And the old gasometer is now used as an indoor and
inland diver's paradise - you can read more about it
and see wonderful photos here:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Music, dancing shoes and hot coffee

Hi Everybody!

On Tuesday we are starting a new challenge at
This time our lovely Michele is hosting, and has
chosen music as her theme. As always, tags of all
formats are welcome, and you have 2 weeks to
join in the fun. And Michele has generously
offered a prize to one lucky participant, so
pop on over to the blog and find out all about it!

I have a hybrid tag today, as I have been keeping my bed
warm these past few days:

For Chris' '101 ways to keep warm' at Art Journal
Journey I have another suggestion-
keep dancing! I wish I could still wear those lovely,
strappy shoes!

And I would like to remind you that you still have a week
to enter the 'Home, sweet home' challenge
at TIOT.
Hope to see you there!

Today is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here
a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of
the T Gang.
I have a 'pig's ear' on offer - flaky pastry baked with lots
of sugar and dipped in dark chocolate:

My drink is Cappuccino:

Some more pictures from the old steel-works in Duisburg.
It was amazing walking through those cavernous halls
and trying to imagine what it must have been like
when it was being operated:

A chimney raven:

This is the spot where the giant sand castle stood in August:

It was eerie walking through these dark halls:

In this corridor there were windows looking down to the old
halls and machines, which were illuminated in bright colours -
more tomorrow!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
