All creatures great and small....

Hi Everybody!

Another week is speeding by and I still haven't worked out
where my time always goes....

For Paint Party Friday I made a mixed media A3 journal page for no particular
theme, just for fun. I brayered and then sprayed the background, and added some background stenciling, trying to keep to shades of brown. My men were painted in and then stamped to pattern their clothes. I added the quote 'I am the dream, you are the dreamer', which I then divided up and repeated here and there.

For Art Journal Journey, Elizabeth's lovely theme of back to school, I made a journal page using some inspiration I got on my Monday walk this week. A class of students were at the Rhine with their art teacher, sketching various things in groups of 2 and 3. They were really taking their work seriously, and it was fun to watch them. I took some pics, which I altered a little with various filters and made them to my journal page:

And this is my tag for Tag Tuesday this week:

The swans and geese were at the pond in the park:

I loved watching the swans turning their long necks to do their morning toilet:

These ducks were next to a stream at a place I visited yesterday:

The geese are probably being fattened up for St Martin's day in November:

And these horses were on the field next door:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Autumn foliage

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge at Moo Mania and More -
Autumn Foliage.
This is very fitting just now as the leaves are beginning to turn
and are showing their autumn colours.
The background has been brayered, stamped and given a sprinkle of brushos sprayed with water. The herons silhouette was made from my photos taken here at the Rhine, and the leaves and fungi were added digitally.
Projects of all formats can be linked, and you have 2 weeks to show your creations.

I am still sad that my tree was chopped down yesterday. It all went so quickly:

And this was all that was left over afterwards

And here a few of the hundreds of photos of 'my' tree taken at  various times:

Have  a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

T stands for Tuesday This and That

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week has started well. Here I was very shocked today - I
suddenly heard noise in the back garden, and saw that the
gardeners were cutting down the tree in front of my balcony- I asked them why, and they said the tree was rotten at the roots and not safe anymore. In ten minutes the tree had been  sawn down and chopped up into small pieces - so sad.
The tree gave me shadow, and was a resting and nesting place
for countless birds. I took photos of it, and will show them another time.

Elizabeth is hosting T stands for Tuesday again today, as well as our challenge at AJJ, back to school.
For back to school I have a hybrid piece. I used a vintage image from Gecko Galz, a Banksy stencil of the little girl with her balloon and some digital elements. The little boy, bowed down with heavy books, is dreaming of better days....:

We had wonderful weather while Susi was here, and often enjoyed some refreshments at the ice parlour in Market Square:

Iced coffee with extras.....

Hmmm, Susi likes it:

First taste, looking rather dubious:

Yessss! Delicious....

We began and ended Susi's time here in McCafe at the airport, and I used the
napkin from the tray to make a journal page. And just a reminder, you have one more week to enter the Coffee and cream challenge at TIOT!

And the last photo before she flew back home!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

First day at school

Hi Everybody!

Hope you have had a good weekend. Today was cool and
rather misty here,
but it was pleasant after all the hot days we had.
I went out early for my walk, and the streets were almost deserted,
which I also like.

For Elizabeth's 'Back to school' challenge at Art Journal Journey I made a page using a photo of me taken on my first day at school:

I was surprised to see the trees in front of my window looking so autumn like when I looked out this morning:

The Market Place was deserted:

This old 'fire telegraph' is on the corner of one of the streets here. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and saw that is an apparatus built at the end of the 19th century by Siemens and Halske. Inside it there was a handle which you had to turn to set off an alarm by the Fire Brigade:

Another almost deserted street:

And the trees are turning colour fast:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
