Landscapes, a face and windows

Hi Everybody!

Today we are beginning a new challenge at Moo Mania and More - Landscapes.
All forms of projects are allowed, not just Moos, and you have 2 weeks to join up with us, so hope to see lots of you there.

I made an A3 mixed media Journal page, using a landscape from Vincent van Gogh. I saw the statue of him in a magazine at the dentist's, and took a photo, and it is from a Sculptor called James Buttler.

I made this face from an inspiration I found on the net, using a black Edding to draw the hair and features, I am linking to 49 Faces and to Art Journal Journey, through my window, and to Kim Dellow's Friday face

It was difficult to take the photos of this house, as it is standing on a busy road. I had to stand on the other side of the road to take the photos, with cars driving by all the time.

Windows in  the little houses here:

And these photos were taken in Linz, a little town further up the Rhine-
I'm the one holding the camera:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Black and white, coffee, cake and more

Hi Everybody!

Today I realised that I need to post the black and white pages I made, as the challenge at Moo Mania and More ends today - time flies by and I can't believe we will be starting a new challenge again tomorrow.
I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, through my window, as the zebra is looking through the window of his house at the zoo, watching all the strange people who pass by.

Here I reversed the colours:

Today is Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's 'T stands for Tuesday'
so I want to greet all of the gang.

I am showing you a cherry cake I made some time back when I had visitors. There's a layer of short-crust pastry, then one of  cheesecake, and on top of that the dark cherries. When the cake was nearly finished I took it out of the oven and added a glaze made of cream mixed with some melted butter, brown sugar and almonds and let it bake for another 20 minutes. It was delightfully sticky and buttery and tasted of caramel and cherries and cream cheese, yummy. I was rather disappointed that my visitors ate it all, so I had none left over for the day after. But it was really good, and I did not put any calories in it. If you are looking for calories you should know that they are mostly to be found in closets, where they hide and make your clothes smaller each night.
Next week I will make another cake specially for you.

And my drink is once again cappuccino, which is my nectar and medicine:

At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is 'I remember when...'.
The text is on the back and reads: I remember when I thought lavender and purple were colours for old ladies. Now, 50 years later, I like these colours....'

When I was at Schloss Kalkum I was very sad to see how run down and dilapidated the castle looks. They are starting to do some repairs, so I hope it will soon look better.  Paint is flaking off everywhere:

Looks like the dungeon window:

And even shabby shutters and windows look better with reflections in the moat:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Looking in and out of windows

Hi Everybody!

Here's wishing you a good start in the new week!
We had a definite nip of Autumn in the air here over the weekend,
but it was great weather for walking, and for spending an afternoon at home reading.

For Art Journal Journey, through my window, and for our 49 faces challenge, I made another face in a window, and added some shutters. Sometimes I think it might be a good idea to have shutters or blinkers to shut out things we don't want to see! She was drawn with pastel chalks and India ink pens. I used some stamps from Darkroom Door for 'enter here' and 'look within'. I am also linking to
Kim Dellow's Art it Friday

The horses were  out enjoying the fresh air when I passed the riding stables:

 The castle ravens

I visited Schloss Kalkum and saw that the Egyptian Geese have lots of goslings again, I didn't realise they had young ones at this time of year.

The Canada goose was helping to keep watch over the littl'uns

I love the beautiful autumn colours of their feathers:

The heron was looking for dinner in the field:

This lovely window is in a door I passed:

And this small, stained-glass window was right up under the eaves of another house:

The interior decorations shop was reflecting the opposite side of the street:

And the wonderful window decoration in the bicycle shop - I just love this one!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
