New Challenges at TIOT and Art Journal Journey

Hi Everybody!

Today sees the start of new challenges at TIOT and Art Journal Journey.

For Art Journal Journey  our theme this month is
'Through my window', and our guest hostess is Corinne.
Her lovely example is on our blog, and you have 4 weeks to join in, and I hope to see lots of you there again. You can read all the details and the pesky rules there, too!
For my A3 Mixed media page I was inspired by the Beatles' wonderful song, 'Eleanor Rigby', an old and friendless lady, who stands at the window and keeps her face in a jar by the door. You can read the whole text here.
I am also linking to 49 Faces

And here's the song to hear:

At TIOT our theme is 'something new'. All formats and styles are allowed, just use something new, try something new - whatever - you have, as always 2 weeks to join us! I made a 12" kraft tag using a new stencil that I got a few weeks back in a bundle from EBAY. You can see lots of wonderful examples from the DT on the TIOT blog. I  matted the tag with black and gold card.

And last but not least, I would like to welcome my friends from Elizabeth's

Today I am sharing some of my fave coffee mugs, and these are just a few of them - others buy new shoes, I buy coffee mugs. But I usually get them from  the thrift shop for 1€, so  that's okay.

And this is my very fave one just now, as it holds nearly three 'normal' cups, lots of yummy coffee....

The tablecloth is one I embroidered for my Great Aunt when I was a kid. I always had to do needlework when I was at her place, she said 'The devil finds work for idle hands', so kept mine busy working. After she died it came back to me, and is now almost 60 years old.

And some of my pens and pencils live in this stylish wooden barrel that I got as a present years back, filled with delicious coffee beans.

Please help yourself to cup cakes, I baked plenty, and last week you learned how to eat them!

Enjoy your coffee or tea or whatever you are drinking today!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Time is running out....

Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend was good.

Today is the last day of the time challenge at Art Journal Journey-
time is running out, but you still have one more day to join in.
If you come back tomorrow you can learn all about the new challenge for  September.
I have once again made a collage of all my time pieces from this month. I enjoyed the time theme, and want to thank Yvonne for being such a wonderful guest hostess this month, and for choosing such an inspiring theme. If you look at our Pinterest page (link on the right) you can see all the entries, and they make an impressive display.

This is the last of the pages I made. I used a brush-wipe page as my background, painted in the face and adorned her with all manner of clock and cog stencils. The quote is from Golda Meir.
I am also linking my face to '49 faces' and to Kim Dellow's Show your face

We had another hot and sunny day, which started off with a wonderful sunrise:

The farmer was out tending his fields accompanied by hundreds of gulls, eager to find goodies in the freshly turned earth. It reminded me of the pied piper of Hamlyn, but this time with gulls instead of rats.

They were queuing up over a couple of hundred yards

The rose hips are ripe

This container ship was so big that I could hardly get all of it on my photo

The traffic on the river keeps a lot of traffic off the roads, and that is good!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Faces and vintage vehicles.

Hi Everybody!

Hope your day is going well.

This is a TV doodle made a couple of weeks back, made for 'Time' at
Art Journal Journey.
I am also linking to Black and white at Moo Mania and More.
It looks like a frightening face, too, but I am NOT adding it to my 49 faces!

This face is also meant for 49 faces and Kim Dellow's Friday show your face.
This was one where a lot went wrong - the colours ran, because I forgot to put the rubber stopper back into my water brush, and as I also used a non-permanent black pen, it made a mess.  So the poor girl got a frustration-scribble-hairdo and that was that!

I like the colour swapped digital version better

And now, what do you think is?

Can you see it better?

'Elvis Presley's Cadillac Fleetwood is  resting here, but not in peace '

This was part of an art experiment started many years back, watching things revert to nature

The Cadillac is on the car-park of the 'Burghof'  (Castle Court) cafe, restaurant and Beer garden, next to the castle ruins by the Rhine. The other cars are rusting happily in the beer garden:

And this carriage (perhaps from Count Dracula?) is in the hallway

I discovered this car outside on the street, looks like someone's  been to a wedding. I love the reflections of the cobble stones:

Hope you enjoyed our trip to the beer garden!
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by
