Orange, orange and blue

Hi Everybody!
Hope your week started off well. It was cool and rainy here, and I enjoyed walking in the rain and getting wet. After all the heat we had last week it was really pleasant to be back to normal, although the next heat wave is on its way.

At SOC the colours this week are orange, orange and blue. This is the last of the colour challenges for this summer. I have once again used an A3 page. I drew a paper doll-face, already stamped and ready to post, as  she is also meant for the post-postage challenge at Art Journal Journey. She was drawn with charcoal pencils (thanks Chrissie!) and coloured with pastel chalks. I found some postage stamps in my stash in fitting colours, and added some postal stamping. And the blue and orange butterfly!

At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is splashes, drips and dribbles. I used a background which was painted, sprayed and dribbled. I went over some of the little splashes with DecoArt liquid glass, which I outlined with a dark blue fine liner. Looks a bit like apples on the trees! I added some embellishments to give it all a bit more volume.

I just got 2 photos taken today, it started raining so much that it was not possible any more.

Waiting for a letter

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, post-postage I have made  a mixed Media A3 page. I used one of my old documents for the background - not the original, just a scan, and collaged it onto a background painted with a mix of gesso and Titan buff paint to give it the same colour as the old document. I added some washi tape and a copy of an old letter, distressed with DI to match the vintage look. I stamped the ink bottle with quill, and collaged the girl sitting at her desk writing, and the little bird bringing her long awaited letter.

Charlie Chaplin

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

For Art Journal Journey I have another comedian's page, but this time the stamps I used were not from Al Hirschfeld. I used a set of Charlie Chaplin stamps issued by the Vatican, and another stamp from Czechoslovakia. The large image of Charlie was made with a stencil from Stencilry.org. I painted the A3 page with gesso, and used various stencils to create the background. I added some shading with DI old paper. I kept the colours to red, white and black again. The bow tie was added using a scrap of red paper. 

He was another man whose films I devoured as a child, and I must admit, I still love them.

 Failure is not important - it takes courage to make a fool of yourself. 

Today some happy mail arrived at my place from Chrissie. 

The envelope is a nice piece of mail art!

Inside I found a large piece of burlap, a tin of charcoal pencils in various thicknesses, some lovely bird cards, which will be great for scrapping,  and some lip salve. And last but not least, a beautiful tag from Chrissie, which is now on my desk watching me! Thanks a lot Chrissie, your gifts are much appreciated.

Today was warm and rather humid, and we had some glorious clouds this morning:

I watched this lady standing on the shore of the Rhine doing her Yoga exercises- what a lovely place to meditate!

This, that and the other for Saturday

Hi Everybody!

Every day I plan to start writing my blog post early, and every day I leave it till the last minute - what is so fascinating about last minutes? Are other people
also so attracted by them?

For Art Journal Journey, post-postage, I have made another journal page in my 'comedians' series. This time starring Laurel and Hardy. I used to love them as a kid. We had children's morning at the local cinema at weekends, and it was 2 hours of fun with L &H, Charlie Chaplin, Disney cartoons and more, and we all used to have a fun time. I drew cartoons of Laurel and Hardy, and added a copy of a special stamp-set for Oli's 100th birthday. The A3 background was as usual painted with gesso and stenciled with various motives in red and black. I added one of their lovely quotes. I had fun making this and thinking back to times gone by. I am also linking to Friday Face Art at Kim Dellow's blog.

Today started off with a wonderful sunrise. I love watching the sky change in those few minutes - beautiful.

I saw this funnel spider waiting for visitors when I was out today.
