50 shades of grey....

Hi Everybody!

I was so looking forward to the solar eclipse today. Those who visit my blog regularly know that I am (slightly) obsessed with the sun, moon and stars, and I very much wanted to see the eclipse. I have had my special glasses ready for weeks, a filter to put on my camera, and then all we could see was mist and fog - fifty shades of grey! Perhaps the weather will be better when the next eclipse happens....

For Art Journal Journey I have made an A3 page using a scan of a beautiful old engraving of a pigeon, taken from one of my old books from the 19th century. I coloured the pigeon with Gelatos and fussy cut it. The head was drawn using a home made stencil, and the 'hair' is a stamp from Artemio. The 'tears' are from Designs by Ryn. I used various stencils to liven up the background, which was painted with sky blue acrylics. The winged 'ear' is a Sizzix die cut, which covered up a nasty black oops.

And now for the fifty shades of grey....

Hope you had some sun today!

TGIF

Hi Everybody!

This has somehow been a very busy week, so I am happy that the weekend
is nearly here. I have been busy all week -and the week before - trying to tidy my stash and get organised, move furniture round, hang new curtains and pictures etc. I am planning to rest over the weekend!

For Art Journal Journey, things with wings and Paint Party Friday I have once again used my fave dragonfly stamp. The background was painted with acrylics onto textured water colour paper. The dragon flies and plants were stamped with archival black and embossed with fine EP. I added colour to the wings with twinkling H2Os and Stickles. The quote is from Harry Potter.

Today we visited a little neighbouring town, and this donkey, called Friedel, was right by the spot where we parked. There was a sign telling kids that he likes it when they climb on his back and ride him. No, I didn't try. Perhaps I would have done so if nobody had been looking!

Some more impressions from the town and the market:

Angels and feathers

Hi Everybody!

Just  a short post today, need to get to bed and sleep!

For Art Journal Journey, things with wings I have made another journal page using Dina Wakley's moon faces stencil. The background was  a smear and wipe page which I gave a sprinkle of Brushos and some sprays and let it drip a bit. I stenciled the faces with gesso. I gave them wings made with feathers, bodies cut from scraps of silver material and halos drawn with a silver gel pen. I am also linking to Mix it Monthly, angels.

Wings to fly

Hi Everybody!

Hope your day is going well! We had a sunny one here, this afternoon it was even warm - so nice to feel the warmth of the sun!

For Art Journal Journey, things with wings, I have made a journal page with Frida Kahlo. I used the stamp on white paper with archival black, and then fussy cut it. I don't know who made the stamp as I got it second hand from EBAY. The background was made with Brushos on dry paper and then sprayed with water. When it was dry I added some more colour with Gelatos. The parrot images are from Itkupilli. I added some butterfly wings to Frida, and wrote part of her quote 'Feet, why do I need them, when I have wings to fly?'

Today the blue tits were frequent visitors to my balcony, they love the fat balls and nets with nuts. One of them is my 'watch-bird'

The coach and horses had to wait at the level crossing till the tram went by:

Then it carried on down the road to the Rhine

Spring, hats and things with wings

Hi Everybody!

Today it's another double Tuesday with new challenges at Tag Tuesday and at Try it on Tuesday.

At Tag Tuesday our theme is 'spring is in the air'. I discovered some nice printed cardstock while cleaning and tidying my stash this past week, and have used it here for my tag. I inked the edges with DI Forest Moss, and threw on as much as I could find - flowers, leaves, die-cuts, ribbons a little metal bird and a sheep. For me spring has to be full of greens and delicate colours, so I have tried to use them here, as well as Stickles to add some sparkle.

At TIOT our theme is 'hats': I Recently read the quote about the woman's hat in an old novel from the beginning of the 20th century, and tried to show it in my journal page. The silhouette of the woman with hat is an image from Gecko Galz. I printed it out in A4, fussy cut it, and used it as a template, colouring round it with pan pastels. I then stamped all the small flowers I could find to make it into a garden, coloured them with gel-pens and twinkling H2Os, and added lots of winged creatures, which also got lots of Stickles. I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, things with wings, and to Fashionable Stamping challenges, Springtime

After a cold and frosty night, the sun rose in a hazy sky - just gorgeous. I love the delicate, muted colours.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.
