Signs of spring

Hi Everybody!

It's still cold and very frosty here, but the days are longer, the sun has been shining, and nature seems to be leaning towards spring.
Today I have another A3 mixed media collage, once again using a napkin from our lovely Yvonne. I made it 2 week back when we having a lot of grey days and I needed some colour. The background was brayered with gesso with a hint of red and then stenciled with  red using a CWS stencil.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday and to Simon Wednesday challenge, make your own background.

I love watching the sun rise up through the frosty mist:

The texture of the trees is amazing:

Spring flowers are emerging in spite of the frosty temperatures:

  The crab apples are budding:

Catkins by the stream:

The Chinese laurel in the hedge is budding, too:

This was completely flooded a few weeks back:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

T stands for Vintage and coffee

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week got off to a good start. It's very cold and frosty here, and is supposed to get more so, which doesn't make me happy, as the cold weather is not good for my aching bones and joints.

On Tuesday we are starting a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday
-Vintage-
As always, projects of all formats are welcome .You have 2 weeks to join us, and we are looking forward to seeing what you create. I made a hybrid piece using old family photos, showing my great Auntie Fanny, Erika, and my Mum holding me. The photo with me is the newest one dating back to 1947, the other 2 were both taken in 1918. I used some elements from Serif.

At Tag Tuesday you still have a week to link to Michele's challenge, use a quote.
I used Mr Bowler Hat again:

Today is also T stands for Tuesday at Elizabeth's blog, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T Gang.

Last Wednesday I went for breakfast with N. We chose a small breakfast at Cafe Bazzar in the Altstadt of Düsseldorf. They had other breakfasts which were large enough to keep you going for a whole day!  The cafe is rather large, and all tables were well filled with guests. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window.

The shelves reaching up to the ceiling were filled with old coffee grinders and coffee machines from various ages and styles:

My cappuccino:

N's Latte:

All drinks are served with a sugared almond:

We each got a plate with various cheeses, a slice of ham, an egg and a little edible cup of jam:

Bread, rolls and butter came in a separate basket. I took one roll home with me as it was too much:

  The 2nd round of cappuccino:

And what about a coffee roaster like this?

This is a place to which I will surely pay a repeat visit!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Training cats....

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend, enjoy!
Today I am sharing an A3 mixed media collage made recently. I used one of the lovely napkins sent to me by Yvonne, so thanks again! The background was brayered with a mix of blue and green left over from other projects, and textured with a scroll stamp while still wet. After adding the napkin with acrylic medium I used 2 stencils from Seth Apter and CWS to add the rectangles and dots to match those on the napkin. I added more dots with alcohol markers, and added some stamped kitties just because I love these stamps. I added some yellow lines and 2 studs (from Sabine, thanks again!) I found the quote on the net.
I am linking to stamps and stencils, off to collage

I saw this beautiful flower shop in the Altstadt from Düsseldorf last week:

The musicians' fountain is in the square outside the cafe we visited on Wednesday:

The building in the background is Wilhelm Marx Haus, the first 'skyscraper' in Düsseldorf and one of the first in Germany. It was built in the 1920s

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
