Thursday Post - TAD

Hi Everybody!

Rain's theme at TAD this week is Sculpture. I have chosen some photos taken in Düsseldorf and Duisburg, a neighbouring town. It was hard to choose as I have so many, but I think this is enough for today. I'm starting with the 'Triton' Fountain on a bridge at the beginning of Königsallee, one of the very expensive shopping streets. If you want to spend a lot in a short time, you're at the right place here!

The definition of sculpture is 'the art of making two- or three-dimensional representative or abstract forms, especially by carving stone or wood or by casting metal or plaster.'

Another sculpture on the same street:

The lion of Düsseldorf at the other end of  Königsallee:

I love this bronze of the girl playing ball, also on the same street:

Another beautiful bronze statue nearby:

Some rusty sculptures on a street of old houses:

Duisburg was the birth place of  Gerardus Mercator, who was a cartographer and mathematician, and one of the 'inventors' of the globe, which was a revolutionary way of showing the world in the 16th century. In Duisburg there are many globe sculptures:

This sculpture is a fountain:

Another globe:

Another beautiful bronze:

And this is a HUGE sand sculpture made by a very talented international team who worked for weeks to make a sculpture which could only last for a short time. In spite of setbacks they made a 50 foot high sculpture from almost 4000 tons of sand. I enjoyed visiting it in the old industrial park there:

That's all for today! Have a great one, stay safe,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Tuesday/Wednesday Post

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week got off to a good start.

Today I have an A3 mixed media journal page to share for Wendy's vintage challenge at AJJ. The background was painted, textured an stenciled. I used a mixture of vintage and modern images:

This is the other half of the rose that I accidentally cut in half:

Blogger has once again changed the order of the photos, the evening sky pics should have been before these lovely images of the moon rising over the trees:

The lake:

Empty benches:

Neighbour's flowers again:

And this feather fluttered down onto the leaf as I went by:

The evening sky:

And some funny memes:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

T sTands for This, That and the neighbour's caT

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and let's hope we all have a great. new week. Today we are starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday. Thanks to all who joined in the last challenge.  This time our lovely Sandie is hosting and has chosen the theme of book paper. The post on TT will go live this evening at 9 p.m. and then you can see the beautiful and inspirational tags that she has created.

I have made a tag which ties into to Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday link party, which also starts this evening, so here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who visit here. I used a page from an old and tatty songbook that we used at school back in the 1950s and cut a coffee cup from it:

Some food and drink memes:

Coffee in a little café in a neighbouring town:

This plant is growing in a neighbour's garden. It seems to be exuding some sticky and sweet stuff, and bees and butterflies have been buzzing happily round it all week;

In town:

Kids being creative, always fun to see:

People having a picnic in the castle grounds:

More pics from the wildflower meadow:

And the neighbour's cat:

Have a great week, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
