Thursday - Friday post

Hi Everybody!

Hope this week has been kind to you up till now!

Today I have another journal page for Elle's language challenge at AJJ. I used a background painted with my fave colours. The photo in the frame shows my mother and brothers and sisters in 1943, 3 years before I was born:

I am also linking to Paint Party Friday:

New challenge at TIOT and more

 Hi Everybody!

After enjoying a one day summer on Sunday we are now back to wind, rain and grey skies, but at least it's not so cold!

Today we are starting an new challenge at TIOT, make it feminine. As always you have 2 weeks to join us, and projects of all formats, including digital are welcome. Have a look at the lovely creations of my teamies on our blog!

I have chosen a photo of a suffragette, taken 1911 in London. Women were fighting to have rights that we take for granted today - to be able to vote, to be able to make decisions for themselves, to be able to own property, have a bank account, study and work in a profession other than cooking, cleaning and housework. If you look at the poster she  is holding, you can see that violence against women who fought for their rights was socially acceptable. Many were imprisoned under terrible conditions, some died for the cause. And we have to be thankful to them that most of us can now live our lives as women and decide over our own lives. And women can be feminine and still stay strong, it doesn't always have to be pink and pretty. And there are still women in many parts of the world who even today have no freedom and rights:

T sTands for a brave woman

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all had a good weekend. Here it actually warmed up on Sunday, hard to believe. It was warmer outside than inside. Wonders never cease!

Elizabeth's  T Stands for Tuesday link party will begin this evening, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T Gang who visit here.

Today I have a vintage coca cola screen to share:

But my drink is, of course, still coffee:

Sunday, May 9th,  was the 100th birthday of a very brave woman, Sophie Scholl, who together with her brother and some friends formed a non-violent resistance group, the White Rose, during the national socialist regime. You can read more about her here.
Sophie and her friends were caught, imprisoned and put on trial on February 22nd, 1943.  She was just 22 years old. They were all found guilty and executed by guillotine a few hours later. To honour her and her group I made a journal page, which I am linking to Elle's language challenge at AJJ. The postage stamp has been issued by the German Post to commemorate her 100th birthday:

Have a great day, take care,
