Use your scraps

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge at TIOT - use your scraps. I don't think I need to explain much here, scraps are scraps! Projects of all formats, 'real' and digital are welcome, and you have 2 weeks to join us. Hope to see you there!

I made an A3 mixed media page. The background was painted and textured. I used a picture I recently printed out too small for another project, and placed it on an L-shaped scrap of gold netting. The leaves were left over from a book cover I made, and the gold dots fussy cut from a paper bag. The ribbon was also a left over piece from a Christmas present. I used a stencil to create the dots with gold structure paste. The sentiment was written by hand. I am also linking to Jo's texture challenge at Art Journal Journey

The moon showed itself early this morning at the same time as the sun was rising:

On Saturday I walked along the Rhine:

I saw lots of groups of young people walking to their meeting point for the Rhine clean up. Today I read in the newspaper that people had been collecting all along the Rhine, from the source to the sea, and picked up a total of 380 tons of garbage. Kudos to all who joined in!

Then I walked through the fields to the next village. I always love the wayside shrines:

I looked down from the bridge onto an almost empty motorway:

I saw birds in the fields:

And I enjoyed this sunflower garden, where you can pick flowers and put the money in a tin:

The text in the middle says 'Only  flowers that have been paid for bring joy'!

These 2 crows seemed to be having a conversation:

T sTands for more This and ThaT

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I have been enjoying being lazy and resting, listening to audio books and crafting, and it was very enjoyable!

For my 'down on the Farm' challenge at Tag Tuesday I have another tag, using a mixed media journal page made many years back. I made it into a tag in my graphics programme and added the mini tag with the sentiment. Hope to see more people joining in the challenge:

This evening will also be time for Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday Challenge. I saw this coffee-cup garbage-bin at a petrol station - it was bigger than I am, but unfortunately not filled with coffee:

And I have a few photos from my walk last Wednesday, which also led to a delicious coffee break:

My feet enjoyed a rest here as always:

As I turned the corner from the Rhine into Market Street I saw the Wednesday market, and this wonderful coffee-van - Yesssssssssssssssssssssss! 

The friendly service craft kept everything clean and disinfected:

It was good to sit here, enjoy cappuccino and watch the ships go by at the end of the road:

My drink was served with a small slice of a sweet brioche and was very enjoyable:

Later in the day I had an appointment in Düsseldorf. There are huge screens with ads etc in the subway - this one is for coffee-pod machines:

And this is a survey asking if everybody should be obliged to wear masks at work - I would say yes, unless they are in an office all alone:

Weekend Post

 Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - have a good one!
Today was a day of queuing up. First I had to queue at the doctor's - only one (masked) person is allowed into the reception at any one time. But I didn't have to wait long for my injection once I was in there, so that was good. The next queue was at our little supermarket. You are only allowed to enter with a cart, if they're all in use you have to wait outside till one is free. I did my shopping, and the next queue was at the cash desk, as one of the machines wasn't working. Then I went on to the market to buy my cheese and eggs. Only 2 are allowed into the booths there at any one time, so it was time to wait again before I could get a nice piece of Gorgonzola and 6 fresh eggs - but it was worth the wait! I recently read a good quote - 'waiting is not a waste of time, it's a time to enjoy the present'.  And as much as I don't like queuing, I know that it is necessary to keep us safe.  Back home I made myself a coffee and tried a small piece of the cheese - well, I had to try it, didn't I? After that I went out again and visited the farm at the end of the road and enjoyed seeing the animals there. The rest of the day was me time - crafting, sewing and listening to audio books - paradise!

I used 2 of the farm photos I took today for my header and for this tag made for my 'down on the farm' challenge at Tag Tuesday. I found this scene so lovely. The other geese were all in a gaggle together, and this one was having a conversation with Miss Piggy, which may have been something like this:

Today I have another A3 mixed media journal page to share, and I am linking to Jo's  texture challenge at Art Journal Journey again. This page turned out rather darker as planned, it should have been more blue than black, and it's unfortunately more black than blue - I mixed it badly! But the texture is good:

I wiped some gold paint over it with a baby-wipe to try to lighten it a bit. I added lots of gold spots and dots and stars and stenciled a figure on the left side:

The gold cup was fussy cut from a LaBlanche prospect and the quote is from Shakespeare:

I added some stars from a sticker-sheet and some gold dots cut from an envelope:
