Weekend Post

Hi Everybody!

Winter seems to have forgotten to call in here, but perhaps it's just late! Europe seems to be a snow free zone just now - are we experiencing a Wintrexit? And so many people still think there's no climate change....
Anyway, warm wet and windy was our theme this week. Buds are growing and the birds seem to think it's time for spring. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!
I had some blood tests done yesterday, and although my fingers are better than they were, the inflammation is still not gone, so I need to take the cortisone for another 8 days. I'm not really happy about it, as the side effects are hard, but what has to be has to be! Let the battle begin!

I made this A2 mixed media piece some weeks back together with another 'double-head' piece which I showed in December. This one had slipped down to the bottom of one of my large piles and I found it while looking for a book, which I still haven't found....The heads were cut from painted and textured paper and then given some sewing. After sewing them to the  painted and textured background, I decided to add the feathers, but can't say If I like them or not. But what's done is done!  I added the sentiment this week, sorry for the wobbly writing. I am linking to Jo's theme at Art Journal Journey, something new:

Last Tuesday we had a sunny day, and I enjoyed walking through Hofgarten and visiting the birds:

This swan was evidently disappointed that I didn't have any lettuce in my bag:

Beautiful colours along the Rhine:

The forsythia is blooming on the Liebeskind Building:

And I always pay my respects to Henry Moore:

And I like to play with photos here:

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Snow creatures

Hi Everybody!

The week is flying by again. We have warm and damp weather here, flowers are blooming, and the hyacinths on my balcony are shooting up. I was not able to take any snow photos this year and have had to raid my pics and creations from previous years, Rain definitely has more snow at her place!

The first is a Russian themed journal page using an image from Gecko Galz, and it has lots of snow on it:

And a New York scene:

This is a photo taken from my balcony with some digital filters:

Erika looks good in the snow:

Children, birds and animals are all snow creatures:

Another altered photo taken at the Rhine during a freezing winter flood:

Jack Frost and his little dog:

And the Chronicles of Narnia were my fave books when I was growing up, I loved the idea of walking through the wardrobe to the magical, frozen wastes. And I loved the beavers and talking animals, and Mr Tumnus the Faun and all of them! The photo was taken in the back garden and then altered. We do have lampposts like that here in town, but I seem to have the wrong sort of wardrobe....

Some snow creatures from Pexels:

And some snow creatures seen in our little town in colder winters:

My wonderful Scruffy:

Some images from a German magazine from 1901:

I am also linking to Paint Party Friday.

Sorry, I still can't write too much, but my fingers are slowly healing and that's the main thing. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.

Midweek Random Post

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well. We're still enjoying mild weather here, so that's something. We haven't had a single snowflake up till now, and I hope I'm not tempting fate by mentioning it. Thanks to all who left well wishes for my fingers. I think this flare-up  is slowly receding thanks to the large amounts of cortisone, and the daily dose is slowly being reduced so I will be rid of it by next week. We started off with 200 mg and I'm down to  40 already, so things are looking up, and I hope the nasty side effects will soon be a things of the past. I can now type with 2 fingers left and 2 right, that's progress for you!!😍

This is a random A3 journal page made last week on a background painted weeks ago. I was very frustrated because I couldn't get my fingers to do what I wanted, and in the end I just slapped all the bits from my table onto it and did some scribbling round about, and that was it. I am linking to Art Journal Journey, something new - I don't usually do scribbly pages, and I didn't even get round to sewing it:

And some random pics from our little town. The signs are sometimes confusing, and there are no explanations as to where the arrows lead. I don't need the information for myself, but it might be good for tourists,  So I asked in the bookshop if they had any explanatory brochures, but they didn't and advised me to ask at the Town Hall. The lady at the Town Hall said to ask at the Library, and they told me to ask in the museum, which was, of course, closed. It's good that this place is so small that you couldn't get lost if you tried:

This is meant as a direction for the fire-brigade:

And we have a defibrillator for emergencies, although there are 15 doctors, 3 apothecaries and 2 hospitals all within spitting distance - overkill?

X marks the spot?

The beginning is the  end?

Another ominous X:
