T stands for Two new challenges

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all had a great weekend.
There's a lot going on here just now, so I'd better get started!
On the 5th of each month we start a new challenge at
Our challenges are always anything mixed media goes, this time with optional black. I made an A3 piece using acrylic paints and chalks, and a few strips of washi tape. I love the blackboard washi tape I found, it's great for putting a sentiment on. The background was painted with acrylics and stamped into to give a pattern, which is then highlighted by the coloured chalk rubbed into it. I finished it off with a couple of rows of crazy sewing. The quote is from Albert Einstein:

At Tag Tuesday we are beginning a new challenge and our lovely Wendy is  hosting. She has chosen 'Poppies' as her theme, as this year is the centenary of the end of WWI. The quote is part of the famous poem written by John McCrae:

It's also time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the wonderful ladies of the T Gang. My contribution is a slice of raspberry cake and coffee, recently shared at my friend N's place:

Two weeks back N and I went on the tram to the botanical garden at the University of Düsseldorf - I showed some of the pics already. Here are some more, taken in the cottage garden and in the vegetable garden:

These mini apples were sweet and crisp, and not much bigger than cherries:

At the weekend G and I visited another beautiful park in a neighbouring town, where we were surprised to see so many flowers still blooming in November. I will show the pics in another post.

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Hues of Autumn

Hi Everybody!

Today it's time for Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd and for Paint Party Friday.
I am re-showing 2 A3 mixed media pieces. The background in both was painted and the central part was collaged out of various photos and copies of painted pieces. The 'self-portrait' is the one I use for my avatar, although my hair is longer these days and I've got new glasses:

Here the background was painted and stamped. The photo shows the lane leading past the castle ruins superimposed with a photo of an iron watchman taken in Kettwig, a nearby town.

The heron was here near the house, sitting just under the little bridge over the stream:

The trees are rapidly losing their leaves:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
