Sun and sunflowers

Hi Everybody!

Time is flying and it's time for a new post. It's still very hot here, no sign of a break in the weather yet.

I have a canvas (16" x 19") to share that I started some time back, and managed to finish  last week. I used structure paste to add texture. The sunflowers were made using pastes through a stencil and then painted in gold metallic paints. The centres were filled with multi-coloured gilding flakes. The flowers on the right are some I picked ready dried from the meadows by the Rhine. The leaves were cut from a sheet of paper, painted with metallics, and partly embossed with Frantage to give more texture. I also used some rusting powder and more gilding flakes to add some interest to the background. In real life it is a little darker, the metallic paints make it hard to photograph:

I am linking to Paint Party Friday, Simon Monday Challenge ( add some sparkle) and That's Crafty, close to nature.

The photos were taken on my early morning walks this week:

T stands for BoaTs and WaTer

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all have a great week. It's still extremely hot here, and we have been promised heavy storms again in the next days.

On Tuesday we are starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday. This time Sandie is hosting and has chosen 'nautical/seaside' as her theme, which is very fitting for the summer. Tags of all formats are allowed, and you have 2 weeks to join in. Hope to see you there! This is my interpretation, a hybrid tag using elements from me and Serif. The lighthouse and houses are stamped, the birds have been stenciled.

It's also time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here I would like to welcome all the nice ladies of the T Gang. TSFT is celebrating its 5th birthday this week, so I used my hand-carved cups and cupcakes to make a card. I stamped onto some designer paper with distress oxides and added the greeting digitally:

And some photos from my trip to Duisburg on Saturday with my buddies G & H. We visited a boating lake and a water-ski place:

I am happy that the EU does not require me to disguise the faces of the ducks and geese:

No, this car does not belong to us!

Weekend at last

Hi everybody!

It's weekend - have a good one!
I made this journal page at my art group this week. The background was  brayered with a mix of gesso, pink and white. I drew the girl, stamped the flower using my home-made stamp and used various stencils with a grey Pitt pen for the other elements. I did the stitching at home. As I had forgotten to give her eyelashes, I stitched them on. One of the ladies at the group said it didn't look realistic - what a surprise! I am linking to Paint Party Friday and to Simon Monday challenge, summer fun - being at one with nature.

Some impressions from our little town:
