Let's go somewhere....

Hi Everybody!

Just a short post today, I've not been feeling
so good these past days.

A hybrid piece meant for Susi's theme at Art Journal Journey,
using some add ons from Mischief Circus:

My tag from Tag Tuesday this week, our theme was 'reindeer':
😉Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery😉

And some views from my beloved Rhine:

Here with a river police boat:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Friday post

Hi Everybody!

It's Friday, so it's nearly weekend - enjoy!

I have another mixed media A3 collage. The background was painted with black gesso, into which I stamped to add some texture, and gave it a sprinkle of fairy dust. I was inspired by the postcard (Nude from Max Slevogt) which was a handout at the Kunstpalast last Sunday. I cut out the red frames and added some behind and some in front of the card. The text was added digitally:

The original card!

With the added quote:

Here are some more paintings from the Rubens room and gallery. Not all paintings are from him, some are from his contemporaries.
This one is by Rubens, and the sheer size of it nearly knocked me over:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Collage and more

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well.

I have an A3 mixed media collage which went through a few changes before reaching its final form. I used bits and pieces from the prospect I got at one of the art museums after cutting some of the pics into strips.I also added a part of the security bracelet you need to wear there. Apart from that I used lots of fragments of old letters, stamping, and  more or less everything but the kitchen sink.
I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, stripes.

It started out as a piece of card from the back of a paper pad.  I painted it with a quick coat of gesso into which I stamped to give some texture, before adding a sprinkle of brushos and a spray of water. I love watching the colours move and change:

Today I wanted to show more photos from the exhibition,
'Behind the curtain' at the art museum. In the brochure
they write, 'The starting point of this exhibition is the tale of 2 ancient painters who sought to outdo each other's virtuosity in the art of trompe l'oeil. While Zeuxis, however, was merely able to fool the pigeons, which attempted to peck at the grapes he had painted. Parrhasius succeeded in actually deceiving the eye of his rival, who attempted to draw the curtain painted by Parrhasius to reveal the picture assumed to be behind it. The fascinating interplay between concealing and showing, veiling and revealing.....is shown  in this exhibition which shows work from 6 centuries'

My fave painting is the one by Titian:

This one is by Christo, who usually packs objects and buildings in masses of fabric:

This is from Hans-Peter Feldmann- a curtain!

I love this self portrait from Liotard (1770):

Raphaelle Peale's painting from 1822 is called
'Venus rising from the sea - a deception'

Here some photos from the outside of the museum complex which is near the Rhine:

Stripes

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge at Moo Mania and More -

👉 STRIPES 👈

Projects of all formats are allowed, and as always
you have 2 weeks to link to us.

I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, Susi's theme of
collage with a twist.

I made a hybrid collage using my 'nana' stencils,
inspired by the nanas of Niki de Saint Phalle:

Today was grey-in-grey, rain and mist and very cold. I found
it difficult to take pictures with one hand as the other one was holding the umbrella:

There was a whole room at the Kunstpalast dedicated to these strange concoctions, an installation from Daniel Buren:

This is the Rubens room, which I did like better. Tomorrow I will show some of the pictures from the special exhibition 'Behind the curtain'

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
