Even the stones are turning green....

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, for the record, and for Moo Mania and More, music, I have a hybrid page today. I already showed a page with this theme some days back, but I was so happy to discover an old hotel bill from Amsterdam, that I decided to make this version using the bill as background. The bill is dated 1916, one hundred years back. I found the bill among the papers of my Great Aunt after she died - stuffed into a garbage bin! I saved them, and found an enormous treasure of old documents going back to 1701, and am very happy to have them.
The hotel is still standing in Amsterdam today, but I think the prices charged might be a trifle higher now....

I was also happy to see so much greenery growing in the old stones of the castle ruins and the town walls, it's almost as though the stones come to life in spring:

Have a great weekend you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Heaven is a place on earth

Hi Everybody!
It's weekend - enjoy!

For Art Journal Journey, For the Record, and Moo Mania and More
Music, I have another A3 mixed media piece. The central piece was put together using various photos - an old photo of the embankment in London taken on a foggy night, and various photos taken here - the spiral staircase from my last apartment, 'my' balcony blackbird and heron, the anchor that's here at the Rhine, and the statue of Mary from the grotto in one of the old houses by the Rhine. The moon was the last blood moon taken here, too. I printed the picture out and pasted it onto the gessoed and sprayed background. This fits to 2 songs that I like - stairway to heaven, from Led Zeppelin and Heaven is a place on earth, from Belinda Carlisle. I added some floral die-cuts as embellishments.

And here Belinda Carlisle's song:

'My' blackbird spent a lot of time on my balcony today. He was trying to eat from the fat balls, and needed quite some time before he understood that he needed to push his beak through the net before opening it to get some food, and I could almost see him scratching his head and wondering what was going wrong....But in the end, he mastered the technique, and as practice makes perfect, he came back time and time again for more.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Where do you go to?

Hi Everybody!

It's Friday, so time for Eva's and Kristin's Paint Party Friday, and
every day is the right day for Art Journal Journey, For the Record.
Recently I discovered this lovely picture of Sigmund Freud in the newspaper, and straightaway I thought of the title of a song from Peter Sarstedt, a blast from the past taking us back to 1969 - where do you go to my lovely? I made an A3
mixed media page.

And here the original song from 1969 sung by Peter Sarstedt:

Today I had to go to the dentist, but it wasn't too bad, and I was soon back
home again and ready to enjoy my coffee. The new leaves on the trees
are just wonderful, I love this spring green!

The moss and lichens are growing well, too:

The field in the background has been plowed and soon the flowers will be blooming and offered for sale:

The water in the Rhine is rising again:

I love looking through the arch to the castle grounds:

The campers are setting up their summer quarters again:

A pretty corner:

Market day:

The window of the bank:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Flowers and birds

Hi Everybody!

The week is flying by, I ask myself everyday where the time goes and why
I never manage to get as much done as I would like to.

For Art Journal Journey, for the record, and for Moo Mania and More, music I have another hybrid page. The background is a photo from San Francisco, and I used 2 different Frida stamps to remind us of the song, 'If you are going to San Francisco'. The song was written by John Phillips of the Mamas and The Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie to promote the Monterey Pop Festival of 1967.

This pigeon seems to have flowers round her head, although it is just the red catkins from the poplar tree:

The magpie is also a frequent visitor on my balcony:

The pigeons enjoy sunbathing in the last rays of the evening sun:

And some close ups of my mini living-room garden:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
