A face and a cake

Hi Everybody!

Thanks to all who left birthday wishes yesterday, and to those who sent cards and presents, which were very much appreciated. I will take photos and
show them tomorrow.

For Art Journal Journey, collage and 99 Faces, I have a
mixed media face/collage. This is the same lady I drew recently, so here she is in a new colour scheme. I drew her in black ink on printed and stamped cardstock, and painted her with water colours. I collaged the sentiment from Khalil Gibran.

Today is also T stands for Tuesday at Elisabeth's blog, so a big welcome to all the  T gang. Today I am sharing my birthday cake with you. Nobody had time to help me eat  the lemon sponge yesterday, so there's plenty for all of me and all of you; enjoy!

And some photos from sunrise and my walk on Sunday:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

The shortest day and the longest night

Hi Everybody!

December 21st is a special day, as it's the winter solstice;
from tomorrow the days will start getting longer, something
I always look forward to.

For Art Journal Journey, collage, I have a hybrid collage, made using a painted and textured background with lots of gilding flakes, a shiny quote, a picture of a statue of Mary (thanks Wen!) and one of my photos of birds on a branch.I wanted this one to look sunny to compensate for the short  hours of sunshine and light  today. The quote is from Dylusions.

The photos were taken this morning before  sunrise, I love watching the new day dawning:

Have  a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

sparkly shoes and a new tiara

Hi Everybody!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. We had a mild and sunny day here,
with temperatures which feel more like spring than winter.

For Art Journal Journey, collage and for 99 Faces, I
made an A3 mixed media piece. I had a brush wipe page onto which I had stamped, but it was a bit too bright, so I gave it a coat of gesso to tone it down. I was recently given a sheet of Dylusions quotes, and the one I wanted to use read, 'I am pretty sure that with sparkly shoes and a new tiara she could conquer the world'. So I painted a face to go with the quote. Her tiara was made with gold leaf and some pearls, and the sparkly shoes were cut from a magazine

Yesterday I went into the Basilica to see the crib, which changes for
each week in Advent:

The windows are always worth looking at:

At the back of the church is a little exhibition showing the history of the building. The old carved eagle is very impressive, too-

On the right is the golden shrine where the remains of St Swidbert, the patron and founder of the town:

I saw the flowers and the copper beech in the garden of an
old complex of houses:

I love this door with the wreath:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

This and that again

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - enjoy!

For Art Journal Journey, collage, I made a page using one of the images I 'found' when I cleared off my table recently. I glued the lady in the middle of an A3 page, and made a mosaic using lots of tiny scraps that I found in the Christmas box. I painted round the edges with a warm red, and then added some gilding flakes while I was at it. This was a nice, sticky job, and I was able to empty another box.

For 99 faces I have a hybrid page, in which I combined a face, a background and a zebra (Gecko Galz freebie). I called it wild face.

More photos of my 'visitors' and the birds I visited on my walk:

The gulls are always sitting on the railing at the jetty:

And this beautiful sheep has the last word today, she looks as if she is not amused:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
