Windows

Hi Everybody!
Happy Weekend!

For Art Journal Journey, through my window, Kim Dellow's show your face and our 49 Faces challenge I made another of my doll's faces. She has been drawn onto an A3 sheet, painted with water colours and Gelatos, stamped and stenciled. The window stamps are from Darkroom Door, the stencils were from my giant EBAY packet. I made this one weeks back and re-discovered it today when looking for something else....

I woke up very early again, but made the best of it by watching the night fade into day:

Venus is still shining bright:

I enjoyed watching the ships at the Rhine again:

This information might be a little confusing for tourists:

And last but not least, a beautiful stone window at the Basilica:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Another window to Van Gogh

Hi Everybody!
It's Friday already - where did the week go?

For Art Journal journey, through my window; Paint Party Friday, hosted as always by Eva and Kristin, and Kim Dellow's Friday face I made another journal page. This time I have copied one of Van Gogh's paintings, the portrait of Camille Roulin, painted in Arles in 1888. Van Gogh was friends with the family Roulin, and made about 20 portraits of the family - of Joseph, the father, who was a postman, of his wife, and of all the children. I can imagine  peeping through the window of the Roulins' house and seeing Vincent painting them. My face was drawn and then coloured with water colours and pastel chalks. I fussy cut it, and placed it on an A3 background, painted with gesso, and then coloured with Pan pastels and pastel chalks. The quote is from Van Gogh.

The weather has been mostly wild wet and windy again, but we did see the sun for half an hour this evening, before the clouds gathered again and sent down more rain.

I have some more photos of 'Fachwerk' houses today, taken this time in Rhöndorf, a little village where  Konrad Adenauer, who was the  first German Chancellor after WWII,  lived. His house is a museum today. In the background you can see the 'Drachenfels', the Dragon Cliff, which is fun to climb up. There is also a little train which takes tourists to the top, and donkeys for those who prefer to ride. At the top is a castle, and a hotel /restaurant.
I love the little church in the middle of the road.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Windows again

Hi Everybody!

One of the things I like doing is to look out of my window at the flowers on my balcony, and watch the birds and insects flying by, and this is reflected in this  A3 Mixed media page, using stamping, colouring and stenciling over a gessoed and painted background. The flower stamps are from LaBlanche, the dragonfly stencil from EBAY. Made for 'through my window' at Art Journal Journey.

I drew this lady looking over her shoulder while watching TV. She did not turn out how I had hoped, so perhaps it might be better either to watch TV or sit down and draw! She was drawn with charcoal pencil and chalks. If I have counted right she is no 27! Linking to 49 Faces.

These pretty half timbered 'Fachwerk' houses with their beautiful windows, doors and shutters are to be found in Unkel, a little town further up the Rhine.
'Up' means towards the south and the source of the river in Switzerland; 'down' means towards Holland and the sea. We're more down than up here!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks for coming by!

The view from my window

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, Through my window, I made another A3 mixed media page featuring 'my' tree, the moon and the stars. The lady who lives in the apartment under me always has a bright light on, which lights up the birch tree and often makes it look white. I used a CWS stencil for the tree, and blue and black acrylic paint for the background.

For 49 Faces and Kim Dellow's show your face I am sharing
the last of the summer sketches from the ice parlour:

Yesterday evening the sky was filled with clouds, sunshine and a rainbow:

Today we had a  stormy start to the day:

I love how the sunlight was reflected on the leaves at the top of the trees:
