T sTands for a Tag and more

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all have a great week. I am getting my T post for Monday/Tuesday done early as I have a lot of appointments this week. Thanks to all who asked about my back, it is a little better, but still very painful, so I'm hoping the treatment helps.

For Sandie's 'autumn' challenge at Tag Tuesday I made a 10" tag which I sewed to some corrugated card. The image is from Gecko Galz, and one I use every autumn and sometimes in between, as I like it. I used my home-made stencil and smooth embossing paste for the diamonds, as well as the last of the crackle paste on some parts. The decorations were gathered in the fields and tied with a strip of linen at the top, and with the wire of the textile leaf at the bottom. The sentiment is from TH:

This evening it will be time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the T Gang Ladies. I did manage to drink quite a lot of coffee again at various places and   in our ice parlour here:

While out and about and people watching:

And back at our ice parlour again - cappuccino for me and tea for Nathalie:

And N. was hungry so she had a waffle:

I was very happy to get a beautiful envelope from Caty in Spain, with lots of gorgeous stamps outside and lots of beautiful goodies inside, including many hand-crafted and hand crocheted items. Thanks so much, Caty. The beautiful owl card is on display on my desk here, and I am looking forward to using all of the crafty goodies and napkins, thanks so much!

Yesterday got off to a beautiful start:

In the afternoon the last of the clouds moved away and it was warm and sunny, a truly golden October day. I walked to the Castle in Kalkum and enjoyed the glowing colours in the park and gardens. The pics were all taken with my cell-phone as I forgot my camera :(

The castle ghost was there again:

I will show the rest of the pics in my next post, but I have just one more to show, something I saw on my Saturday walk through an old cemetery in Düsseldorf - what a place to park a scooter:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

The colours of autumn

Hi Everybody!

It's another grey and stormy autumn day here, but we have been promised better weather soon, so let's hope they're right. I had the wind in my back today so was able to walk much quicker than usual!

Today I am sharing an A3 17" x 12") mixed media autumnal piece. I started it in art class, and did the fussy-cutting and sewing bits later at home. I painted the background (A3) and 2 smaller pieces (A4) with various colours which I repeatedly sprinkled with embossing powders which were heated and bubbled in several layers to give maximum texture, using the same technique as in the tag I showed in my last post. I added some gilding flakes, too.  The large sheet was used for the BG, and from the smaller ones I cut the leaves and the bird, using a home made stencil for the bird-form. I still have some of the paper over which I will be able to use for die-cuts. I glued all of the cuts to black paper from an old calendar before fussy-cutting again and then sewing round the bird and through each leaf. I added a few dried flowers and gave the bird a berry in its beak. This is how I see autumn .

The photos were taken by Nathalie at a straw festival which she visited with some friends in the Black Forest area 2 weeks back:
