Paint Party Friday this and that

Hi Everybody!

The weather here has cooled off quite a bit in the past few days, so now we are having temperatures more suitable to autumn. But we still badly need some rain. They told us on the news that the ground here is now so dry that it would need to rain for 8 weeks solid to replace the water that is needed.

For Tag Tuesday, Sandie's challenge of 'Flags and Pennants', you still have a few days to join us. I made a quick tag using a flag printed onto book-paper, some sewing, coordinating matting and a TH image:

The image for this piece was created in my graphic programme, printed onto an A4 page and then centred onto a painted and distressed A3 background. I added the text and the pointing hand, which was fussy-cut.

Autumn creeping towards Halloween

Hi Everybody!

We are still enjoying warm and summery weather, but the temps should soon be slowly returning to normal. It is still much too dry, some places the Rhine has a depth of less than 1 meter, and this is an all time record, which can lead to serious consequences. The climate is changing!

Last week I spent a lot of time trying to recreate a card I first made many years back, and I think I have managed it, and even like it better than first time around. I didn't have the original anymore, but I did have a photo.

The card has now reached my good friend Sarah, who also loves the spooky time of year, so I can show it here. The background is paper from the DCWV Fairy tale block, matted with gold and blue card. The ghostly lady and the golden masonry  (stamps from LaBlanche) were stamped with embossing ink and  embossed with perfect pearls in interference blue and gold respectively. The Gothic arch was cut from some embossed and distressed gold card. The bat is a Sizzix die cut, which I edged with a gold pen, and the little sand-clock was in my stash:

T stands for waTching boaTs and more

Hi Everybody!

We have had some fantastic weather this past week - warm and sunny, but with the addition of golden, autumnal trees, fallen leaves to scrunch through whilst walking and blue skies which contrast so well with the colours of the foliage.

Our challenge at Tag Tuesday is running for another week, with the theme of flags or bunting. I have another tag to remind me to join in. I cased a tag I made many years back, as I thought it fitting for now:

Tuesday is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T gang.  I know it's Monday as I write this, but I won't have time to write a post later! This is a journal page made some time back:

On Saturday we drove to a nearby town to visit Baldeney See, a huge lake  in a beautiful setting. A lot of people were there to take part in a sport / walking day, and the first big problem was to find a parking spot. My buddy G drove through lanes that were extremely narrow, and found a spot in the end - good job, G! It was almost too hot to walk, at least for me,  but we did manage a few kilometers along one side. Here some photos:

On the way back, G chose some scenic routes to drive along, past castles, meadows, beautiful old houses and bridges.  This was a great choice of route to round off a lovely outing!
