Summer is winding down....

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - have a good one!

I made an A3 mixed media piece using one of the backgrounds I made at our painting session on Tuesday. I added part of a paper napkin, adhered with art potch. I used lots of figures from T.H., and some numerals and alphas from my stash. I underlined the text with a stitched line, made a stitched 'floor' for my group of kids, and stitched round the edges of the page and the napkin. I am linking to Simon Monday Challenge, back to school.

My balcony flowers have perked up now the hot weather is over, and thanks to the TLC from my friends:

You can see the grass in the background, burnt yellow and brown. But the chrysanthemums are doing well:

The variegated clover is growing fast:

My rubber plant is sprouting lots of new leaves and evidently enjoying its summer holiday on the balcony:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Stitched up men

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week is going well. Yesterday I had an art-play-day with my buddy G, and we had a fun day painting and crafting. We didn't starve either, I made us veggie soup, meat balls, strawberries with yogurt and of course, lots of coffee and cookies. N came along in the afternoon, and we enjoyed time sitting round the table for a good natter. We spent some time on the balcony, too, and G and N tidied up my flowers, watered and sprayed them, and made them look good again. Thanks, you guys!

I painted a few A3 backgrounds in various colours and styles, and then started making one of them into a mixed media journal page with a vintage touch. I stuck to neutral colours of cream and burnt sienna. The background was brayered with cream and I stamped into it while wet with a script stamp. After it was dry I rubbed on the burnt sienna with a damp sponge and stenciled some diamonds in the same colour.  Then I added the bits of paper napkins and the flowers, which were stenciled with metallic paste and then heat-bubbled, as well as the stamped splodges. The men were drawn with pastel chalks in burnt sienna, black and ocre. I added some sewing to finish it, leaving the thread ends to give them some 'hair'. The quote was made with chit chat stickers. And I have another 'landmarks' tag for Wendy's challenge at Tag Tuesday.
I stamped onto a scrap of hand-painted paper, coloured the image with prismalo pencils and matted it with more scraps, sewing the layers together:

I watched as the cornfield behind our house was harvested this week:

These photos were taken in June when we still had some green grass. They were on my other camera and I forgot to download them before:

T stands for This and ThaT

Hi Everybody!
Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend and are off to a good start this week.

Tuesday is always Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all the nice ladies of the T gang. There's still a whole week to make a tag for Wendy's  'landmarks' challenge at Tag Tuesday. I have a tag which is suitable for both. The Eiffel Tower and the Triumphal arch are in the background, but much more important, the girl is enjoying a huge cup of coffee with her croissant. I made the tag with elements from Serif on a hand-painted background:

We had lovely sunrises all week:

G came for breakfast and made plum pancakes - decadently delicious!

We had a trip to Krefeld, a neighbouring town, and saw this beautiful fountain which is called the 'Puppenbrunnen' - puppet fountain:

And of course, we found a place to sit under some shady trees and enjoy a drink - my coffee was served with a chocolate espresso bean:

One of the beautiful churches:

A pub sign:

My walks at the Rhine this week were cool and sometimes with rain-showers, just wonderful:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
