Flower power

Hi Everybody!
Happy Weekend!

Today I am sharing a double page in my 'new' journal, where I was busy having fun with blue metallic paint, floral napkins and a fancy script sentiment, which of course reminds me of my younger days in London, hippies and flower power.

I am linking to Moo Mania and More, quotes.

I was up very early this morning, when it was still dark, and therefore able to watch the pre-dawn sky and then the wonderful sunrise. It doesn't matter how often I watch it, it is always a miracle:

I pass this lovely house nearly every day on my way to the Rhine, and always look forward to seeing the wisteria bloom. And every week, whatever the weather, they put a large vase of flowers in the porch:

This stream is near the house I live in, and I can see it from my balcony:

Several people have been asking about my knee after the Operation. I  still go to physiotherapy twice a week, and get lots of exercises to do as my daily
homework, to strengthen my muscles and improve the movement of the joint.
It still hurts from time to time, but this is apparently normal in the first six months, and it is only 10 weeks since the Op. I can walk really well, without help, and have started riding my bike again - things are looking up on the knee front!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Big Mixed Bag for Friday again

Hi Everybody!

Another week has flown by quicker than I can think, and it's nearly weekend and time for Paint Party Friday, hosted, as always, by Eva and Kristin.
I am sharing some pages meant for  a swap organized by dear Bleubeard and  Elizabeth. These went to my teamie  Chris in England, and as they reached her a week ago I can show them now.
I was rather stumped with the theme at first, but went back through my old journals and found pages that inspired me, and these are the results of my mixed media double sided pages, where one side is corrugated and distressed cardboard and the other side paper. I used lots of metallic paints, but the shine does make it hard to take photos.
These are the 'smooth' sides:

And here the corrugated ones:

I used lots of German scrap, flowers and lace:

And this is the tag I made for her:

For Art Journal Journey, Journeys, I have a hybrid piece using a photo of myself, with the low winter sun making my legs very long.
The quote is a from a prayer by Cardinal John Henry Newman.

I am also liking to Moo Mania and More, quotes.

My tulips are now definitely past their 'best by' date, and are fully open, but I like them at this stage the best:

And last, but definitely not least, Susi Froebelsternchen sent me a beautiful card with a wonderful peacock feather coloured pencil drawing - thanks Sweetie! Isn't it gorgeous?

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that

Hi Everybody!

At Tag Tuesday this week our theme is '3 Bs', and we could choose from buttons, burlap, blues, browns, butterflies, birds, bees and beads.

I have 5 'Bs' altogether - blues, browns, buttons, butterflies and beads. I used a scrap of DP to make a card-tag, painted the inside metallic blue, and added the napkin-transfer butterflies. I used a punch to stamp out the lace at the bottom, and added the sentiment, beads and buttons - done!

For Art Journal Journey, journeys, I made a quick page today. I collaged the images onto a world map background and added the text 'Quo vadis' - Latin for 'where are you going'. This quote can  be found in the New Testament, in John's Gospel, when Peter asks Jesus this question, and gets the answer that he is going to a place where Peter cannot follow. In one of the non-canonical (not considered to be part of the Bible) books, the Apostle Peter meets Jesus near Rome, and asks the same question again. This time he gets the answer, 'I'm going to Rome, to be crucified again instead of you'. Then Peter goes back to Rome, is taken prisoner and crucified. Henryk Sienkiewicz wrote a book called 'Quo Vadis', telling this story, and it was made into a film back in 1951. There is also a Church 'Quo Vadis' on the Via Appia in Rome.  Oops, that was a bit of a digression today, then my journal page doesn't have more than the quote in common with the story! I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, quotes.

Today we had lots of sun although it wasn't really warm. Here the morning sun was chasing away the last of the mist and frost from the night.

I wonder who left this lonely chair by the Rhine?

Have a good day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Quotes - New Challenge at Moo Mania and More

Hi Everybody!
Today we are starting a new challenge at

- Quotes -

I made a mixed media spread in my journal, using stamps, stencils and more. The background was gessoed and then coloured with Gelatos.

As always you have 2 weeks to join us, and projects of all formats are
allowed. I am looking forward to seeing what YOU create!

I am also linking to Art Journal Journey, journeys.

And some photos from my walk today - we had sunshine, rain and wind chasing each other all day.

The horses were warmly dressed again:

I love the lane lined with chestnut trees leading down to the Rhine Ferry:

Happy Ducks:

Forget-me-nots:

And the Rhine still has too much water:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
