The two Fridas

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love,
I have some hybrid pieces using images of Frida Kahlo.
Frida has been stamped onto a painted and textured background. The birds, flowers and music were added digitally.

In this one I was once again playing around with lace....The background is a photo from Gill - thanks a lot! I changed the colour, placed Frida onto it and made her a lacy double as I was thinking about her painting 'The two Fridas'.

After the snow shower yesterday - the snow was gone by the time I went out!
Mrs B looks hungry, as always.

Down by the Rhine it was very misty today, with a fine drizzle which got me soaked very quickly:

The next posts will be scheduled, but I hope to be able to add something myself as soon as I am feeling up to it. I will get round to visiting you all again as soon as possible!

Have a good week, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by.

A bit of this and a bit of that

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - have a good one!

For Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love,
I have another hybrid piece. The background is a photo of a spider's web full of raindrops- I added the other creatures digitally.

For 99 faces I have digitally altered a face  (no. 69) I painted some weeks back and didn't show because it reminded my of a cousin I never got on with!
Here I have placed her digitally on a different background
and given her a lacy mask. I am having fun experimenting just now:

The minutes before dawn are always the best time of day for me:

After that, the weather was just grey in grey, and we even had a snow shower, which thankfully didn't settle:

My most frequent visitor today was Mrs Blackbird, who shouted at all other birds - including her hubby - when they came near 'her' food.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Music and memories

Hi Everybody!

This week has gone by very quickly, which means it's time for Paint Party Friday, and every day is time for Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love. I chose a painting from Modigliani again - Anna Hanka Zabrowska, painted in 1916. I just copied the figure and the chair she is sitting on and left out the background. I have made 2 different backgrounds for her, a painted one and a digital one, which I am showing today. I used an old photo, which I digitally made transparent, to show the grungy, painted background underneath. She looks like she is thinking about something, perhaps about family festivals and the music she danced to as a young girl.... Then I created her shadow in lace, and placed her on top. I had fun painting this one, and playing around with this background - I will show the other background another day. I am also linking to 99 faces.
This is face 68.

My blast from the past this week is an abstract landscape painted with tempera paints back in the 90s:

The weather has been very cold, but sunny and bright, and I have enjoyed my walks along the Rhine as always. The water is receding slowly:

The cormorant was practising yoga again:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Birds big and small

Hi Everybody!

Had a long day today (Wednesday), as I had to go to the hospital for the pre-OP examinations. The staff were all very friendly there, and after completing all the formalities and signing lots of forms I had to go from room to room to answer lots of questions, and was told all about how the OP will be done. (Yikes!) I had blood tests, an ECG, some rather complicated X-rays to determine the exact size and form of my knee etc etc. And then I visited the ward where I will be staying.
Back home I had a meal and  a large cup of coffee and then slept all afternoon - bliss! And the most important thing I found out is that I can connect to the wireless internet there and stay connected with the rest of my world....

For Art Journal Journey, music is the food of love, I have another hybrid journal page. The background is a photo of the sunset at the Rhine, and the woodpecker is one of my regular and very hungry visitors. Here I have given him a crown. I remember this song from when I was a child, perhaps some of you oldies might remember it, too!

The song was sung by Glen Miller, here you can hear the original blast from the past if you want to:

Lots of birds visit my balcony, and I like to visit those at the Rhine:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
