Through the castle windows

Hi Everybody!

Hope your weekend is going well.

I was able to visit the K20 Museum today, which houses a wonderful collection of art from the 20th century.
The Museum features a fantastic selection of 20th and 21st century art and was founded 50 years ago. Among the undisputed highlights are key German Expressionist works, as well as paintings by Picasso, Kandinsky, Pollock, and installations by Beuys and Nam June Paik. There are also numerous outstanding examples of classic modernism, of American art after 1945, as well as major installations and photographic, film and video works by contemporary artists.
We only managed to visit the 20th century part today, but I hope to go back another time and see some more!

For Art Journal Journey, through my window, I made another journal page. I was inspired by one of the photos I took of the castle ruins here. My page is very simple - the A3 background was made with left over blue paint. I used structure paste with a CWS stencil to make the 'stones' of the castle. I drew the birds and a bit of greenery, and that was it.

And today I took these window photos while passing by the ruins.

Narrow slits for shooting at unwelcome visitors:

Large ones with wonderful views over the Rhine and the surrounding land:

And I love this entrance, and often go through here just for the fun of it:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Sitting by the window

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend, enjoy!

For Art Journal Journey, through my window; our private challenge 49 Faces, and for Kim Dellow's Friday Face Art I made another journal page. I drew the face using a blue fine liner and did the shading with water colour. I stamped the bubbles (from Ryn Tanaka) onto the 'window' using tumbled glass DI. I wrote the little verse for it, 'Sitting by the window, watching drops of rain, watching them run downwards, on the window-pane'
At the moment I am enjoying using monochrome colours and keeping things a bit simple.

This was just with reversed colours, I like how the colour change changes the whole feeling of the picture.

I woke up very early again this morning, when it was still dark, and saw the morning star shining bright between the 'V' in he middle of the branches:

And some more windows from my little town:

Enjoy the view from your window!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Through the window

Hi Everybody!

Another week has sped by, and once again it's Friday.
Thanks to all who asked about my dental treatment - it went well and my mouth is feeling almost normal again!

For Paint Party Friday and Art Journal Journey, through my window,
I have another journal page.

This time I was inspired by Mark Chagall's wonderful painting,
'Paris through the Window' from 1913.
I decided to try to copy his painting, and it was more difficult than I thought, but in the end I had my A3 page finished.

I started off with this background, drew in the window, Eiffel Tower, cat, chair and the two faced man, blocked them in with white, and just worked on it from there. I had some frustrating moments in between, but am quite  pleased with the final results.

After painting in all the details, I made a thinned down colour wash with DecoArts transparent yellow iron oxide, which gave the colours more depth. I added the fine details with fine liners.

And some views through the window to the windows of  my world:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
