Birds and more

Hi Everybody!

Today I have a large, mixed-media bird tag to share with you.
The background is peeled, painted and embossed corrugated card,
onto which I added a smaller tag cut from a mother board
made from recycled cardboard, textured with crinkled
tissue paper, painted and highlighted with Viva Decor bronze.
The bird is made from recycled book paper pasted onto card,
the feathers are tiny strips of paper. The nest had been
made from recycled Christmas deco-fibres, natural materials
and a glass twig. The three tags were sewn together.

I am linking to Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge blog -
anything goes, and to Go Tag Thursday, Easter/Spring

Yesterday we went on an outing to the zoo in Krefeld.

There are lots of
statues all through the park, so here are some of those I liked:

Today I am showing some of the birds:

I will show the other photos in a another post.
Have a great day, take care
and thanks a lot for coming by!

T stands for Tags and Tag Tuesday

Hi Everybody!
Hope you have enjoyed your Easter break. It's been very
cold and wet here, but I've been having a good time
resting, reading and arting.

At Go Tag Thursday the theme this week is
Easter / Spring, so I went with spring. I used some printed
acetate and some die cuts I was gifted some years
back, I think I have pulled them out at this time
of year more than once, but I can't remember who sent them
to me. The acetate was layered over some pink card, and then
placed onto recycled black card from an old calendar and some
white corrugated card. I stitched the layers together before
adding the die-cut fairy and the textile flower:

The new challenge at Tag Tuesday has been chosen by our
lovely  Wilma, and is 'heritage', as April 18th is World Heritage Day.
I hope you will join us there. I have several tags ready,
and the first shows the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The images
are from Crafty Individuals. The background paper was stamped
with a script stamp (LaBlanche) and a couple of mail art
stamps. I layered the tag onto various coordinating card pieces,
the last of which is mirri-card. Once again I sewed
everything together before adding the fibres and the
textile flower:

Elizabeth is hosting her weekly T stands for Tuesday party
at her blog, so a big welcome to all of the nice ladies
from the T gang.

I met up with friends a couple of times at the
ice parlour while the weather was warm and sunny
and was able to enjoy ice. I had a chocolate one, one of
the others had the delicious strawberry one:

I baked a loaf of wholemeal, sour dough bread:

My drink is, as always, cappuccino:

On Thursday we had a wonderful sunrise:

The pigeons were enjoying the early morning air:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Tiptoe through the tulips

Hi Everybody!
I'm looking forward to the long Easter weekend here,
and plan on catching up on sleep, lots of feet-up time
and some nice walks, weather permitting.
Hope you all enjoy your weekend, too.

For Paint Party Friday and Art Journal Journey,
Hazel's  lovely 'magical mystery tour' theme
I have an A3 mixed media piece on a
painted and textured background, made last
week at art group. I used a paper napkin for the tulips,
which didn't show up well because of the dark
background, so I coloured them with pastel chalks,
which is always a satisfying job:

This wonderful encaustic abstract was given me by another participant
in the group, and I love the wonderful colours and
movement in this piece:

Here are the last photos from my visit to the Altstadt last Saturday -
here you can see the carts being driven off:

A few steps further a group was playing
good music:

The heads are up on the courts here:

And the Otto Dix exhibition is still going strong
at K21:

These trees are here on the street where I live:

Love the two different colours on this one:

We had great sun-rise scenes every day:

Saw these little critters sitting on the step today:

Have a great day, take care
and thanks a lot for coming by
