Music and memories

Hi Everybody!

This week has gone by very quickly, which means it's time for Paint Party Friday, and every day is time for Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love. I chose a painting from Modigliani again - Anna Hanka Zabrowska, painted in 1916. I just copied the figure and the chair she is sitting on and left out the background. I have made 2 different backgrounds for her, a painted one and a digital one, which I am showing today. I used an old photo, which I digitally made transparent, to show the grungy, painted background underneath. She looks like she is thinking about something, perhaps about family festivals and the music she danced to as a young girl.... Then I created her shadow in lace, and placed her on top. I had fun painting this one, and playing around with this background - I will show the other background another day. I am also linking to 99 faces.
This is face 68.

My blast from the past this week is an abstract landscape painted with tempera paints back in the 90s:

The weather has been very cold, but sunny and bright, and I have enjoyed my walks along the Rhine as always. The water is receding slowly:

The cormorant was practising yoga again:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Birds big and small

Hi Everybody!

Had a long day today (Wednesday), as I had to go to the hospital for the pre-OP examinations. The staff were all very friendly there, and after completing all the formalities and signing lots of forms I had to go from room to room to answer lots of questions, and was told all about how the OP will be done. (Yikes!) I had blood tests, an ECG, some rather complicated X-rays to determine the exact size and form of my knee etc etc. And then I visited the ward where I will be staying.
Back home I had a meal and  a large cup of coffee and then slept all afternoon - bliss! And the most important thing I found out is that I can connect to the wireless internet there and stay connected with the rest of my world....

For Art Journal Journey, music is the food of love, I have another hybrid journal page. The background is a photo of the sunset at the Rhine, and the woodpecker is one of my regular and very hungry visitors. Here I have given him a crown. I remember this song from when I was a child, perhaps some of you oldies might remember it, too!

The song was sung by Glen Miller, here you can hear the original blast from the past if you want to:

Lots of birds visit my balcony, and I like to visit those at the Rhine:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Moon, music and more.

Hi Everybody!

For Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love, and for 99 faces I made an A3 piece with a glowing moon face. The text reads, 'Sing to the moon a heavenly tune'

This hybrid piece is also meant for If music be....

The past few days were cloudy, sunny and windy, and we had some wonderful skies:

The Rhine is slowly going down again:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot or coming by!

This, that and more for Tuesday

Hi Everybody!

Today we are beginning a new challenge at TIOT, transport.
As usual, the challenge runs for 2 weeks and projects of all formats are allowed as long as they are relevant to our theme. I used a background which was painted, stenciled and then collaged with magazine cut-outs. Then I digitally added some photos taken here. The vintage car on the right is from Freuebel's Freebies.

For Art Journal Journey, if music be the food of love, I have a hybrid piece. The tree, branches and birds are all photos taken here, and I collaged them with a silhouette of the children dancing round a Maypole.

It is also time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so a big hello to all the T Gang. I am showing you a damson pie I made, and it was really delicious. Yes, dear readers - was. Next time I will save some for you!

And my drink is, of course frothy coffee:

The water in the Rhine is slowly receding, the water fowl will miss their playground!

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
