Tuesday This, That and the Witch's Cat

Hi Everybody!

Today is the start of a new challenge at TIOT and our theme is

'It's frightening - Halloween'

I made an 8" tag, which I fixed to a second tag made of recycled black card. Pasting 2 tags one over the other gives more stability when there is a lot on the tag. The background was coloured with DIs in rusty hinge, wild honey and  something Marigold, sprayed with water to let it run, and stamped with my little swirl stamp. Then I stamped the witch and her cat using Archival black, embossed with black EP extra fine. The skull was printed onto an overhead transparency, as was the witch up in the corner, trying to hide behind the leaves and her owl. Somebody told me last year that I always use the same stamps and die cuts for Halloween - true! And as I am happy with them, I shall be using them in the years to come, too. The leaves are natural ones, dipped in embossing ink and embossed with Utee gold. I added a few splodges of Utee round about just for fun, and some seasonal embellishments and some golden stars, because I got 2 huge bottles of them from the 1 Euro shop for my Euro. The Halloween Ticket is a stamp from Tim Holtz, the witch and cat are part of a set from Close to my heart.

You have 2 weeks to enter our fun challenge at TIOT, and projects of all formats are allowed.
I am also linking to Moo Mania and More, patterns, as the background is patterned and to Anything but cute - 31 days of Halloween

At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is people. I used an 8" tag again, and made some quick cartoon sketches of faces, adding a little colour with markers. I glued it to a second tag made of recycled card again, and then drew and fussy cut the face peeping over the top and the hands and glued them on. This was fun to make, and I am linking to 49 faces (I will only count it as one face!) and to
Kim Dellow's  show your face.

And today is Tuesday, which mean it's time for dear Elisabeth's

I have a fruit and nut loaf that I baked to share. I didn't have enough of the raisins that should have been in it, so added chopped and  dried figs, dates and prunes to the Hazelnuts, and it is very delicious. And I disinfected the dried fruit by bathing it in cognac, just to be on the safe side. You can eat it as it is, or with butter or jam or honey or.....It always tastes good. This is a cake that keeps very well over a couple of weeks, provided that you don't eat it all straightaway! And remember, always cut small pieces so that half of the calories can run out each time.

My coffee with foamy milk is in one of the lovely old cups I got from my great Aunt. In the spoon you can see some chocolate coffee beans. These are roasted beans coated with chocolate, and very delicious. Some of the Italian Cafes give you one when you buy your coffee.

Sorry about the milk I smeared onto the spoon - I'm not used to having company, but help yourselves to coffee and cake!

After another frosty night Venus, the morning star, was glowing very brightly in the clear, black sky:

The early morning colours were very delicate and pastel like:

And the sunrise was glorious as always.

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Two totally different tags and two exceptional ones! Your Halloween tag is fun to look at and view all of the elements you attached. The witch certainly has fancy leggings and I like the little candle you added. The leaf is gorgeous as are all of your gold UTEE creations. Now for the faces, how clever you are with the one peeking over the top. This tag makes me smile. I'd love a piece of your fruit bread and to have coffee in such a glorious cup and saucer would be divine chatting with a dear friend. Stay in and be warm, Valerie.
    Hugs,

  5. Goodness, Valerie, if you are well enough to BAKE, you really MUST be feeling better. When I'm sick, that's the farthest thing from my mind.

I bought a half pound of those chocolate covered coffee beans one year in California, but I've not seen them here in Kansas. They were wonderful, so I'm sure you enjoyed yours.

I'm loving both tags, and was glad to see there were more happy faces than sad or angry in the tag. It was clever and cute. Of course, I've got an idea for the Halloween TioT, too.

That cup is wonderful. Is that gold on the cup and saucer? It's beautiful. So glad you shared it and your chocolate covered coffee beans with us for T this Tuesday, as well as the tags and the early morning sunrise.

    1. I am feeling better, and baking is something I love doing, and which always does me good. It also heated the kitchen, as we had no heating till the weekend! The cups are made with gold leaf, and have to be washed by hand!

  7. Your tags are divine! The first one really speaks to me, and says "Come and snatch me while Valerie is not looking!" ... so I will be over as soon as I have enough money for a plane ticket. lol The Witch is so 'hot' .. love it. Always smile at your cartoon characters ,, and this tag is no exception. Your cake looks delicious and of course, having a weak spot for fine chine, I adore the cup of coffee. Those beans are delicious - I don't think I've ever seen them here, however I'll be able to get them again in Canada. Take care of yourself, hugs, Donna

  9. Had to laugh when you said the cake keeps very well--it wouldn't keep very well in our house for sure. It looks amazing Valerie.

Wonderful tags with so much interest in both of them and great ideas as well.

Love the photographs particularly the glorious sunrise which I just had to save so it may well appear in digi creation at some time in the future

Have a great day and don't eat all the cake -hic!

  18. Your tags are fantastic... lots of details on both! Now that bread looks so yummy and so glad that you disinfected it for us. My daughter-in-law gave me a bag of Chocolate coffee bean for Christmas one year and I wouldn't share with the Hubs...told him he wouldn't like them :) He's not a good one for trying new flavors so he didn't argue... :) I got the whole bag to myself ♥♥♥♥♥

  28. Hello! Both of your tags are great. The gorgeous gold leaves are my favorite detail on the Halloween tag, and the peeking "Kilroy" is my favorite detail on the face tag.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your coffee, coffee beans, and fruit/nut loaf. Everything looks delicious! I used to work near a café that gave out chocolate coffee beans with each drink purchase, and I loved going there. :)

  43. Where do I start - you love doing this to me -- everything is something I love . So I guess the best way to start is the beginning. I have always loved that fashion forward witch that you use. Lots of great embellishments on this tag to. Very attractive. Now that cartoon face tag is really delightful. I love the face peeking over the top. This would be called the lighter side of Valerie!
OHHHHHH - you baked. Sounds delicious and looks delicious too! Did you put some olives in the bread?
Love your pictures to Valerie - a place I will never be able to visit. But it is good to see pictures!!

  46. Valerie, what a sweet Halloween tag, and you put Tim's Halloween ticket on there, which is a favorite of mine, and probably on half of my Halloween creations. I have very few Halloween dies and stamps, too, and tend to use the same ones over and over. That's OK, we use them in different ways, right???

I also enjoyed your second tag, with a wonderful quote and even more wonderful artwork! How fun!

Of course, your baking looks delicious, and I'm so envious of those chocolate coffee beans. I used to get them at our local grocery store. when they stopped carrying them, I found them at our gourmet shop, and now they have stopped carrying them!!

  49. Wonderful Halloween tag. The background is terrific with all the stamping and the way you have treated the leaves and created the broom is so clever. Your baking is something I would love, especially with the "disinfected" fruit and the method for reducing the calories - if only that really worked :) Thanks for joining us at Anything But Cute.
