Rain's Thursday Art Date - Glow

Hi Everybody!

It's time again for Rain's Thursday Art Date and the theme this week is 'glow'.
Glow means to give out a steady light without flame - as verb, and a steady radiance of light and / or heat as noun. We sometimes say people are glowing when they are radiating happiness. The sun, moon and stars glow,  a fire glows and warms us, and I always feel a glow when I drink my coffee!
I have tried to find some examples of 'glow' in my art and photos:

This was a black and white vintage postcard of a sculpture from Georg Kolbe,
which I altered with glowing colours:

The eye of the owl glows with a great intensity:

This is one of my hand-made books painted in glowing colours:

Moon and stars:

Mary Poppins among glowing colours:

As most of you know, the glow of the heavens is something that always fascinates me:

And on Tuesday I was very happy to see the crescent moon and Venus:

I am also linking to Paint Party Friday.

Thanks to all who sent well wishes for my hand fingers. I think the meds are starting to kick in and am  hopeful that things will soon be better.

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Midweek Post

Hi Everybody!

Where does the time go? January is almost over, and there are never enough hours in the day. We're 'enjoying' some wild, wet and windy weather but milder days are in sight and then it will feel like spring again - crazy weather!
Today I am sharing an A2 - 17" x 24" - hybrid piece. The background circles were painted some time back at Art Group - I like to use up leftover paint! The grungy blue background was added with a sponge and my left hand. The leaf was torn from a garden-centre prospect, magicked into my graphics programme and digitally cut out. After that I digitally changed the colours and textures. I have also made it into a digital punch and stamp so I can use it again. I am linking to Jo's 'something new' challenge at Art Journal Journey
and to TIOT - colourful grunge or white space. The quote is important for me as I am having to go new ways and try new methods just now. I have also bought  left handed scissors and am learning to cut with them:

Also linking to Cathy's Wild Wednesdays

The shop windows are filling up with spring fashions and decorations:

I worked in this building for 2 years when I first came to Germany. I had to take a job while the school offices were checking my qualifications, which really took them 2 years, although I had all my papers officially translated into German. Then a got a call from them to say that they had a position as teacher for me and could I start the next day....I started after the summer holidays!
I enjoyed my time at Thyssen Steel Union. Our offices were on the 6th floor, and the canteen at the top, so we used to walk up the stairs before lunch to work up an appetite!

I walked through Hofgarten to visit the birds:

The swan swam quicker than I could take the photo:

Beautiful reflections on the lakes:

And this evening as I came home from the doctor's I saw the moon and Venus twinkling at me:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

T sTands for Tag Tuesday and more....

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week got off to a good start! I had a strange weekend with very painful fingers again, but still managed to get in some good although misty walks and drink lots of good coffee! My  fingers on the right hand are very sore again. I went to the doc's today, and she has given me lots of candies - cortisone, antibiotics and Ibuprofen. There are a lot of very painful dark spots on my fingers, which are necrosis, and we have to try to get rid of them. So I will be eating my candies, in spite of the side effects, and just hope for the best again!

Today we are starting a new challenge at Tag Tuesday, and our lovely Wendy is hosting.  Her theme is black, white and red. Thanks to Michele for hosting the last challenge and all who entered such beautiful tags. I have made a digital tag using images from Serif, Mischief Circus and me. The challenge goes live at 9 pm this evening:

Today is also Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday link up, so here a warm welcome to all of the lovely ladies of the T Gang who visit.

On Saturday I was out and about with Nathalie, and we visited an artisan cafe in the Media Hafen district. The Barista was a showman, juggled coffee beans back and forth, measuring them and weighing them and did everything  to make it look very intricate and complicated:

I had a cappuccino, which looked and tasted delicious:

Nathalie had a filter coffee which the Barista had magicked. I found it  too weak for my taste, but N enjoyed it:

You can choose the coffee sort you want, I had Desert Rose, and it was good:

And this was taken in Cafe Bazaar the day before:

We saw this sign in front of a kiosk:

And I just loved this rusty old hydrant near a building site:

We walked along past the Gehry Buildings and the Post Office Tower was shrouded in mist:

I enjoyed my misty walks along the Rhine:

The bedraggled buzzard was on the look out for breakfast:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
