Autumn Lady

Hi you all!

I have not been feeling good this week, but have tried to do a bit of crafting here and there.
At AJJ there is a new challenge, 'She Art'. This canvas is one I started in August 2012, and which I have managed to finish....The collaged lady has been cut from a pattern I got from LaBlanche, using different papers, mostly from Seven Gypsies. The background has been painted with acrylics, and partly heat dried to make the paint bubble and give some texture. I am also linking to PPF, hosted, as always, by  Eva and Kristin.
It reminded me of this quote from Sarah Addison Allen:

“She looked like autumn, when leaves turned and fruit ripened.”

This photo was taken this morning, an hour before sunrise. I didn't have a chance to adjust the camera, so it's rather blurry, but I thought it was so pretty with the sliver of moon at the top and the colours of the sky.

And just for fun, another poem from Robert Frost:

“GATHERING LEAVES
Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?”

Have a good day, take care, and thanks a lot for coming by!

  36. I love your gorgeous collaged lady, a very unusual approach and a marvellous success. Your photos are always so good - and the skies you have where you live are also so beautiful (sorry to be using so many superlatives here, but they are all deserved!) and the photo is great. And thank you for introducing me to the Robert Frost poem, so descriptive, reminding me of the days when we had to shovel up millions of leaves.
So sorry the health gremlins seem to be out to get you at the moment, and I hope you feel better soon.
