Hi Everybody!
On Tuesday we are beginning a new challenge at
Tag Tuesday, and our lovely Michele is hosting.
Her theme is 'back to school', and many pupils and teachers
world wide will be preparing for this right now.
As always, you have 2 weeks to link to our challenge, and
tags of all formats are welcome. And I chose a winner
out of the hat for the last challenge- you'll have to look at the
TT blog to find out who it is!
For 'back to school' I made a tag using large alpha
stickers from TH, which I (re)discovered when I recently
cleared my table. The little girl, who is not looking very happy,
is probably thinking about all she will need to do at
school. I gave her a bright, yellow crayon to cheer her up.
She was fussy cut from a Gecko Galz sheet and varnished.
The edges were sewn.
Tuesday is also time for Elizabeth's Tea stands for
Tuesday party, so welcome to all the nice ladies from the tea gang.
Today I am sharing a journal page made for Jo's 'Poetry in Motion' challenge
at Art Journal journey, For this page I tried a new (to me)
technique of making skins using Saran wrap and an iron, which gives
you a transparent image which can even be sewn, as you can see here.
I saw the ad for this beer in a magazine, and thought it would be good
for this theme, as I know Jo loves brewing and drinking beer.
(I'll stick to coffee and cola!) The background here was painted and
crackled, making it look nice and grungy. The text is from G.K. Chesterton (author of 'Father Brown')
I baked a banana bread at the weekend, yummy, help yourselves to a slice!

I thought this might be interesting for the T gang ladies from Missouri.
The text says:
In memory of the many emigrants who lived in the area known as
Meerbusch today. Between 1835 and 1865 more than 300 people
left their homes because of the difficult times and settled in
Loose Creek, Westphalia, Frankenstein (County Osage) and St Thomas.
They have kept their local German dialect up to this day.

Oh my, you are so kind and thoughtful creating a page for my theme over at Art Journal Journey knowing my love of beer - you make my heart sing dear Valerie! I love that you used a new technique on your page too, I always love learning new things and the skin you created is amazing đ. Looking at the skin images, I can just imagine those gentleman walking through the countryside and popping into one of those pubs for a beer - perfect! Wow, the crackle glaze background is lovely and you used my favourite blue too, and then there's the beer images and stitching - I love it đ. I have to admit, your T entry was totally out of the box today. It was so wonderful, and I really, really want to make some skins, but I don't know if I have the right materials needed. You did a fabulous job, and the sewing was perfect, as was the transparency.
ReplyDeleteYou KNOW that Tag Tuesday theme is one I'm really in love with. Our school started last Thursday, so we are apparently ahead of the curve. Your tag is beautiful and I like all the pieces you included in it.
Looks like there were quite a few eateries in Lank. Lots of places to sit and enjoy yourself under an umbrella. Of course, I loved the fountain, and the bikes in front of the well. So good of you to think of the Missouri connection, too. This has been a fabulous post.

I bet there are lots of kids like that girl on your tag not too happy about summer ending. (I think a few teachers too.) :) That yellow crayon should cheer her up however. If it doesn't I don't know what would. And I love the beer piece. How did you make those skins? They are really cool. I am guess you must iron the paper side so you don't melt the Seran Wrap all over your iron. And yes please, I'll take some banana bread. Maybe there's a table near that fountain in Lank. I thought those statues were really wonderful and I would be happy to look at them while I munch of some of your yummy bread. :) Happy T Day. Hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteThe saran techniques sounds intriguing. I'll have to go look that up. Poor little girl got stuck with having to write What I Did On My Summer Vacation. Looking at your beer page makes me want to grab the stein, pound it on the table while singing. Du, du liegst mir in Herzen. I haven't had my breakfast yet so I would love to help myself to a slab of your banana bread. I so enjoy your walks. The village is so quaint. Love the found. Valerie, I was so intrigued with your Saran wrap transfer that I went searching online. I found a great book on image transfers (I hope) and bought the Kindle edition so I can read it right away! Love your page and the Chesterton quote!!

I enjoyed all of the photos-the sculptures and fountains-and Yes there are several very German towns here in Missouri-they are in a different part of the state then where we live-but has always been somewhere we wanted to visit-especially those handmade sausage shops.
