Hi Everybody!
It's almost Friday, so it's time for Paint Party Friday again, hosted, as always, by Eva and Kristin.
My first piece is for Art Journal Journey, maps. I used a painted, dripped and collaged background, which was digitally enhanced and placed over a map.
This week I finished the last page in my 'new journal', which has now become my old and very fat journal. This page was made with scraps of paper napkins and dryer sheets which were used to mop up colours, metallic paints, doodling and writing:
And here I used a lot of scraps and leftovers, paints and gelatos:
And here my big, fat journal, for which I will now make a cover:
In between heavy rain storms we had some dry hours for taking walks, and today, Thursday, seems to be summer, but I don't think it will last long, and more storms have been forecasted:
The horses are happy in the old moat:
I love this garden on top of the town walls:
Market day:
Hydrangeas by the bank:
And clouds and sunshine chasing each other all week:
And in these days when the weather changes faster than many people can think, a quote from George Carlin:
'Weather forecast for tonight: dark.'
Have a great day, take care
and thanks a lot for coming by!
How fascinating to see a few wonderful, amazing colourful pages from your big fat journal. These pages are so beautiful, the dragonfly piece is ethereal with stunning colours and I love the sweet-faced yellow bird and the strips of blue. And "The Face of the Night" is just magical.
ReplyDeleteLots of superlatives from me, hope we see some other pages another time.
What a wonderful post today - three beautiful pages, each one so different. My fave is the purple one, but they are all gorgeous, as is that big, fat journal. Love the photos, too, and hope that the weather soon gets better. Lovely quote from George Carlin! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeletebeautiful 'fat' journal all finished! Rainy markets are not good. Lovely map art for AJJ.
ReplyDeleteLove the page using the map as a background. The images are so unusual and must tell a story Valerie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure yout finished journal must be and a joy to keep looking through.

ReplyDeleteWow, it didn't take you long to complete that journal. I really love the bird and hand. It was a fabulous final entry.
ReplyDeleteThat wall with the pots of blooms was incredible. I've never seen anything like it before. Hope your Friday is dry, dear.
Wow, amazing pieces all of them and well done on completely finishing your new (old) journal!
ReplyDeleteLove all your pieces! Full of color and so bold! <3

Hier war die Nacht sehr schlimm, wieder heftige Gewitter und Starkregen und Hagel....Heute soll's weiter gehen.
DeleteLove your journal pages, Valerie! Gorgeous colours and so many details. I'd love to sit down with a cup of tea and flip through your fat journal! It's always satisfying to finish a journal, and exciting to start a new one.
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather will calm down a bit. It's a weird summer. We had much better weather in England than here. It's (too) hot and sunny at the moment, but back to the rain again from tomorrow on.
Wow a feast of fantastic journal pages today Valerie. Your complete journal book will be a lovely book to have handy just to browse when maybe having a coffee.
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos and hope you get better weather today.
Yvonne xx
Your journal pages are stunning, Valerie. It would be difficult to pick a favorite - but you know me and colour - so I think the second one would be my choice. Once gain, interesting photographs. Makes me want to wander down that beautiful path in the woods and feed the horses come carrots. Do hope your storms subside soon so you can enjoy some lovely weather. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteyou are making a book for your art journal. What a great idea. :) Love the open spread. I have so many images I could use in this way. But first I have to migrate to a new computer :( Love your work.
ReplyDeleteThe pages are just WOW, and maybe you need to start another journal, they sure do get fat when we feed them...love the colours .xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pages Valerie. Your fat journal looks like my summer one and I'm not even that close to being done. I always love your heads, and the night one is really interesting. I also love your photos because I like getting a real feel for places and not just shots. Does that make sense? I think the idea of all the pots on the wall is really an interesting way to dress up the wall. And love seeing market day. Hope your day is going well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow! Your fat journal pages are wonderful! I love your face of the night page - great dramatic look to it! Love the photos - the hydrangeas look fabulous - still waiting for mine although it's looking as though there will be lots of flowers! Have a great weekend! Chrisx

ReplyDeleteSo much to see here :) Your pages are beautiful, I especially like the ones with the dragonflies where I think you said you used napkins. Beautiful colours as well. Your photographs are always wonderful to see as well. We are experiencing a drought here, very dry with no rain. While the weather is nice, we would like rain, the trees and gardens, would enjoy it. Take good care, Shirleyxx

ReplyDeleteI love maps in artwork and your photos are wonderful.
It's great to escape for a wee while... as I'm reeling from today's results on the EU Referendum. Thank you for the sharing ;D
Happy PPF to you
You are very smart to make a cover AFTER completing your journal. I really like all of your pages, but my favourite is the 2nd one. I love the colours and the fact that you used dryer sheets! I haven't done that in a while, but don't they make lovely texture?
ReplyDeletehugs,
Teresa
I really love how beautiful these pages are and how cohesive the colours. Shows up gorgeous on the page...that little bird with the musical breast is stunning...I'd want to use it in other pieces too! Great post!
