Tuesday this, that and the other

Hi Everybody!

Lots going on today, so I'll get started.

For Moo Mania and More, crowns (last day today!) and for
Art Journal Journey, inspired by autumn colours, I made a hybrid page. The background has been painted and collaged, and has some added digital elements ( from Foxey Squirrel, Itkupilli and Dezina World). The lady on the left is kissing a frog - I wonder what will happen next?

At Tag Tuesday our theme is 'Hand lettered'. In view of the events in Paris I made a simple tag with the word 'Peace', and wrote 'Shalom' underneath it.

Today is half time at 'Make a scene' at TIOT. For this and for
Elisabeth's 'T stands for Tuesday, I made a scene, and would like to welcome all the T Gang to take a seat and enjoy a drink. The hybrid page has been made from many elements - the background photo is from one of the beautiful old buildings in London. The bird heads and the seated lady are from Itkupilli, as is the golden screen. The statue is taken from a photo made a few weeks back at the castle I visited near Kettwig. I digitally removed her from her photo, where she was standing in the garden, and brought her inside in the warm. She is serving a cappuccino from Café Burghof. The 2 girls standing at the back (My Mum as a child and Erika, a distant relative) have also been released from their photos, and are standing there wondering what is going on. I also added the lettering. The cherub at the front usually sits on my window ledge.

Here the originals:

Found these nice grungy, rusty and mossy bits today:

On my walk through the town yesterday I took pictures of the nicely decorated shop windows with reflections of the houses opposite:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. That lady wears her crown nicely. Dressed a bit like pictures I've seen of Elizabeth I. Liked the humor of the frog, too.

I admit I have forgotten more German than I learned in my one year in high school, but I count at least five languages you seem to know. Is there ANYTHING you can't do? Your Peace tag is incredible.

Love the scene in the cafe/London building. Your hybrid adaptation of the scene is a real joy. I enjoyed every element, and the fact you made it fit two themes was extra special. I used to think that a person shouldn't combine challenges. Now I think the more challenges you can make fit a single work of art, shows how diverse you are.

Thanks for sharing all those rusty, grungy bits, along with your lovely coffee scene and peace tag with us for T this Tuesday.

The photographs are marvellous and have made me want to take pictures of the shop windows in town. It will need to be a bit brighter to be able to do that though.

    Have a lovely day

  13. What a great post Valerie! Where do I start? Your shop window photos are stunning. I have become a member of a photography club and I must start making better photos. I'd love to photograph shop windows too. And your mossy and rusty bits are fab.
And I love your hybrid art work. The London 'museum coffeeshop' is a work of art. As someone else commented, the perspective is spot-on. Very good.
The 'peace/shalom' thing is beautiful in it's significance. Well done.
As for the lady kissing the frog?.... well, we all know what happens, don't we!
    have a good T-day,

  16. Valerie, your projects today are incredible and so much to take in. It has been a big plus to start my day! The town shops are getting ready for Christmas as your photos capture their windows and their reflections - love them. Your journal page is one of your best with old and new and fantasy too. May God bless those in France and around the globe from acts by the terrorists.
    Hugs,

  21. Thanks for sharing all this "eye candy" today in your post. The autumn colors in your first piece are awesome. Your peace tag is very appropriate, in light of recent world events. And your last piece, with its delightful mix of animals and humans, reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. As for the window shopping, the cute sheep make me smile. :) Happy T Day!

  23. You've had a bumper day today. So many interesting scenes. Did the lady in the top hat kiss the frog and it turned into a prince ... or ... did she have a bad day and the prince turn into a frog?

Like the photographs very much, such clever use of the geometry available ... even to the reflections, really appealed to me

  24. Love the bird lady:) Your mum and relative were cuties. A couple of those photographs look like my closet. grin.

  26. Another tremendous blogpost, Valerie, I always spend a lot of time looking at everything.
Your photos of shop windows are fascinating and I can see a shoe I really like, German shoes are the best.
I'm so impressed by your ability to isolate an image from its surroundings, especially when the surrounding are quite complex. I hope your cherub got home safely after his day out. The whole picture is superbly made.
Really well done again, Valerie, with your "Peace" tag.
