Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a great weekend! I am looking forward to painting, reading, and perhaps going out for a meal. Today I have another piece for our poetry challenge at AJJ . The face was drawn with coloured pencils and acrylstifte for some outlining. The flowers were added afterwards using a floral napkin. The poem is one which I found really romantic when I was a studentin - times change, but I still like it!

I had to get up at 5 a.m. on Friday as I had an early appointment, and this evening I will be in bed early to make up for it. It had just got light, and it was fascinating to watch the light getting stronger, the haze rising up from the grass and the sunlight slowly dispelling the last remnants of night:

Thoughts on your poem of the day: Shelley lived from 4 August 1792 – 8 July 1822. And wrote all those poems about life being too brief. So it was. Here we are, having lived so much longer than he did, and it still seems so short. My aunt -- at that time in her 80s -- said, "Death is too final." Shelley's poems capture a youthful view of this.

Thanks Mae. I went to a Shelley recital last week, it was a charity performance with young artists, and I loved it. I'm too tired just now to go all philosophical. May sweet sleep carry me away!

Good weather and being outside - yessssssss! I always get up and watch the dawn, so beautiful. Then I make a cup of coffee and go back to bed! Hugs!

DeleteIt was a busy weekend so I'm finally catching up. What a lovely poem, and too true. If only flowers would bloom for weeks. I love your lovely lady's face and all the flowers you added. She is perfect for that poem. And sometimes getting up early isn't so bad. You get to see the day beginning, and at least it's not winter's cold. That makes it so hard to get out of bed. I never really got deep into Shelley so that poem is new to me.
Lightning mocking the night is a powerful imagery though, doing that here right now!

Beautiful portrait, so gentle and the addition of the flowers from the napkin really brought it to life echoing the lips of the fair maiden.
