Midweek Post

Hi Everybody!

Today I have 2 pieces for various challenges to share. First up is an anything goes for my challenge at AJJ. I used a photo of a crumbling stone wall for the background. The bird on the branch is also one of my photos, the rest is assorted ephemera and then some digital additions, all put together in my digital programme:

The second piece is a tag for Sandie's new challenge, my favourite theme, at Tag Tuesday. I have once again used Leda, sorry, she seems to be on my mind just now:

Heike and I went to another café. It was a tiny bit more expensive, but the cups were larger and it tasted great:

The girls of today in 40 years time:

Have a great day,take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. Hi, Valerie! I'm slowly getting around to everyone. It's been mass chaos at our home after being away for over two months. I love both pieces that you have created. The first one is calming just to look at. If you don't mind, can you tell me what digital or photo program you use to create this kind of image. It strikes me that I might like trying something. Don't hold your breath though. I can't manage what I have on my plate already ~ lol! I'm not sorry to see another image of Leda. She is beautiful and calming too. I think your two pieces go together well. I'm going to go back and reading some of your posts that I missed. I won't comment on them, but I'll put another comment here. Take care, and hugs to you!

    1. Thanks Louise. I know what you mean about chaos after being away for a few months! I love Leda. I use Serif and photoshop for editing /creating. Graphics Fairy is a place that offers lots of free images to use. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  5. Hi, Valerie! I had such fun going back through your posts that I missed, even though I was interrupted by two long phone calls. Thanks for sharing so many beautiful spring flowers, especially the lilacs (my favorite flower) and the pussy willows that I haven't seen in so long. They don't grow in our area of Colorado. What a wonderful friend you have in Heike! You've been having such fun together. I always enjoy your art, and I wrote down graphics fairy and serif which were in your posts. I'm going to check them out. And thanks for all the wonderful birds, especially your hummingbird. It's a favorite of mine. Finally you always find great funnies and thinkies. Your MKL, Bacha Kahn, and Camus quotes really resonated with me. I wasn't familiar with Bacha Kahn. I always associate non-violence and resisting British colonial rule in India with Mahatma Ghandi. Thank you for bringing him to my attention. Have a great rest of the week! Hugs to you!

    1. Pussy willows are so beautiful, my heart always does a flip when I see them, sorry you haven't got them over there. Okay, Colorado is a wonderful place to live! You can always find good quotes on the net. Just type in 'quotes about....' and lots pop up. FB is another good source. Have a great day, hugs!

  6. I enjoyed seeing both of these pieces in this post Valerie. The additions to your stone wall piece are beautiful. Your photo has some interesting texture. And Leida is wonderful on the tag, so you should use her as much as you feel like. And nice funnies too. I do wonder what some of these young people will look like when they age, and some of them may be aged long before the 30 years. If their life is tough that is. Have a great Thursday. hugs-Erika

    1. Thanks Erika. Smoking, drinking too much and living a hard and fast life really age people quickly. And tattoos that hang don't look good, either. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  9. I love your journal page and I especially adore the message it conveys. I have been offline for several hours tonight when a breaker down the street blew. It scared both cats and me. I don't know which of us jumped the highest. Lida is still beautiful. I need to find her and use her. I also have a Vitruvian man I should get out and use, too. Regardless, your Lida is amazing and I love how you used her in the tag.

Some of those funnies were great. You have to KNOW how much I loved the cat funnies. I thought I could but the cat was on MY lap, too. And we all know that dogs are more loyal (NOT)! I was really impressed by the salt story, too. It touched me. Thanks for another fabulous entry using your theme at AJJ.

    1. Thanks E, sorry you had another power outage, that doesn't happen so often here -yet! I know how often I coculdn't answer the phone because I had my cat or dog - or both - on my lap, pinning me to my chair! Leda and the Vitruvian man are both wonderful pieces, I've been working on a new piece wth the Vitruvian man again.

  12. I love that term "assorted ephemera," Valerie. It sounds like something you would buy at the local shop. I'll have twenty sausages - the bigs ones (this is you shopping of course), 5 kilos of coffee to last me until next week, and 500 grams of assorted ephemera. Better have some sauerkraut too. This business of gadding around coffeehouses with Heike is getting to be a daily routine, I can see that, and doubtless a very pleasant one too. I would imagine that socialization is an important component of a successful return to good health, along with a pharmacopeia of pills of course - and assorted ephemera. I note that you have used Leonardo to good advantage again. I will take this as homage to a great man rather than the shameless purloining of his work. Tomorrow I will have lunch with Josh. Not at the same level as coffee with Heike, but it will have to do. Hugs and kisses - David

    1. I wonder what reaction I would get if I ordered 'assorted ephemera'. Or if I asked te butcher how long his sausage is.... But yes, I have been out and about a lot these past days, and you won't believe it, but we managed 2 different cafés again today! But it does me good to get out! And to crown it all I wet-mopped my floor - a wonder! I haven't yet finished with da Vinci, the man was such a genius! Have fun with Josh tomorrow, best wishes from Heike and me! Hugs! xxx

  16. Hi Valerie, I love your art work but the funnies today are very distracting Lol! The salt story is lovely but the cat lover is brilliant. I can just taste the coffee and might just have to go and make one when I've finished here. Take care and big hugs, Angela xXx
