T stands for sTiTched coffee cups

Hi Everybody!

The first week of the new year is already over, where did the time go?
I still haven't cleared my work-desk, I'm afraid I spent my time reading and dreaming again, but I did enjoy it!

Our challenge at Tag Tuesday - new beginnings -  still has a week to run, and I made a new tag with some new coffee cups, which is also meant for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday. So here a warm welcome to all the nice ladies of the T Gang. My tag was made from a piece of designer paper, sewn onto some coloured card with my crazy stitching. Someone asked last week if it was really necessary to sew everything. Of course not, I just enjoy it. But is it really necessary to ask such stupid questions? The cups were cut out free hand from scraps, and I sewed patterns onto them, just for fun. The milk-foam on the cappuccino was made with scraps from a lace doily:

The weather has been grey and cloudy, I took these photos mostly with my cell-phone as I left my camera at home- strange!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. I like the sewing on your cups and I love the "foam" doilies. It really makes them interesting. And love all the birds. Most of the ones at my house have disappeared lately. I don't know if there-s a better feeder out there or the squirrels have taken over. happy Monday and a a big Happy early T day greeting too. hugs-Erika

  2. Hi Val, I love your coffee tag, and I always love your stitching. The little cups are very pretty. Some people do ask stupid questions, don't they?! Lovely photos, too, it looks cold. It's cold and grey here, too, and I'm busy washing and ironing, sigh! I'm sure the kids won't make so much stuff dirty when they need to do the laundry on their own! Hugs, Sarah

  4. I don't think it would be a 'Valerie' creation without stitching in some part of it! So clever the use of doily for froth (lol, just as Sheryl said above... and it is :D))
    So lovely.
That line of sea gulls is so cute and my favourite is the blackbird, we love them here in our garden too... they aerate the soil so beautifully.
Cheers and enjoy your week of dreaming and reading - such a lovely thing to do with your time :D) xx

  5. Your tag is perfect for T Day. I like the foam you created for the cappuccino. Very clever. So fun to see the pictures of the birds along the Rhine. The seagulls always make me think they are waiting for the ferry. Oh, and reading and dreaming is a much better activity than cleaning. Happy T Day!

Yes, it's been grey. (I've just come back from Holland where it was equally grey)
Here the sun is shining of course but it is cold too.

  29. I love your crazy stitching and I loved your snarky response to the rude comment, "But is it really necessary to ask such stupid questions?" My smile for the day. :-)

To paraphrase the movie Excaliber, "A page without a stitch! Valerie without a page!" The doily worked great to suggest foam. Great tag.

Your photographs of birds are amazing - even with just a cell phone.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  30. The foam on your coffee cups delights me. I enjoyed the photos. I think you captured the atmosphere - cold, a little moody. The birds seem quite happy with it.

  31. Haha! I had to laugh when you wrote about people asking stupid questions. Yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question.
Your journal page is beautiful and has a whimsical touch. I love that the background looks like a chalkboard. And I LOVE the stitching on the cups and those doilies peeking out.
That last picture of the bird is my favorite!
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  37. I love your happy tag, and of course it needs stitching - everything is more interesting with stitching lol. I love the picture of the lone bird where he looks like he's drinking from a hollowed out stick, and also the blackbird, 'cos Blackbirds and Robins are my two favourite birds - probably becaust they're the only two I can identify! xx
