School, cats and big birds

Hi Everybody!

Time is flying, I never know where my time goes.
Yesterday I had a pleasant day, as I had  visit from a blog buddy Sabine,
AKA 'Little Art Bee'. We had a fun time, more about it in my next post.
Suffice it to say thanks to Sabine for coming, and hope we can meet up again soon!

Our lovely theme of 'Back to School' at Art Journal Journey is almost over, so here a big thank you to Elizabeth, who made so many wonderful and varied pages, visited all the participants, and gave us lots of fun memories. On Saturday our new challenge begins, so hope to see you then! I made my usual collage of all entries for the month:

This collage was made with one of my school photos:

For Paint Party Friday I am linking this cat, inspired again by Rosina Wachtmeister, on a background made with brushos, sprays and pan pastels.

My second inspiration was sitting down by the Rhine, staring intently into a clump of grass - perhaps there was  a mouse there?

A heron has been hanging out at the stream next to our house these past weeks:

Here it was sitting on a drainage pipe just under the parapet of the bridge:

The skies before sunrise are always most impressive:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. What a lot of goodies today! Love the collage, and the journal page with the photo of you as a kid, with that lovely smile. Your cat painting is fantastically happy, and the photos are wonderful, as always. Have a fun day, hugs, Sarah

  2. This is a great post Valerie. I am loving that first and last day page- and how true that is. I think your collage is a great idea, and enjoy seeing the recap every month. But I am really taken by the orange cat. He looks like the one I had who died last summer. That cat was such a good companion, I still miss him a lot. Hope your week has been going well. :) Hugs-Erika

  3. I love the page you made with your school days picture. I made a Smash book page about last school year, but never posted it on my blog. You got some great shots of that blue heron hanging out by your house. Blessings, my friend!

  5. What a fun last page you created for AJJ. I wish I had your digital skills, but all I seemed to manage this month was cut and paste the old fashioned way. This is beautiful, as is your lovely mosaic.

Needless to say, Bleubeard and I both love your cats. They are always so much fun and you make them so stylish.

Loved the cat in the grass and the heron. That moon shot is fantastic, although it doesn't look the same without your big tree framing it. Thanks for your sweet comments about AJJ. I've had a fantastic month and will miss all this.

    Another lovely walk.
What great pieces. You retained your pretty smile. And those cats look like they have personality plus.

  11. I don't know what to love most in this post -- your totally fabulous birds or the paint party cats. Your Rosina inspiration is one of my favorites -- I have a couple of china cats based on her work and a pencil case. These are just fabulous! But those bird shots -- WOW! I bow down to you -- fabulous camera work.

  29. Good to see your photo here, you look happy - was it the first day or the last? That's a great collage, the way the images and colours merge in.
Nice to see that handsome ginger cat and the heron. I didn't realise a heron had the deep blue patches, I must look more closely the next time.
As always your sky photos are sublime.

  34. I love the collage of your month long challenge. I think it would be great to frame a print of the collage. It is beautiful.

Love those blue Herons. So pretty, almost as pretty as an orange tabby cat. I know in America it is very rare to see a female orange tabby. Is yours a boy or girl?

Of course I always look forward to visiting you on Fridays as you post the best pictures of your beautiful surroundings. Needless to say, you never disappoint us! Hope you are having a great day and your week will be wonderful!! Hugs, Rasz
