Hi Everybody!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. The weather here is still good, so
I have been out walking and spent the rest of my time playing in
my arty kitchen - fun!
The image I used for this journal page for Art Journal Journal, back to school, is from Gecko Galz, and it looks like a scene out of the 50's. I love the way the kids are celebrating their Miss Jones' birthday. I always got little presents from my students, too, and it is good to feel appreciated. I used a vintage paper background, and added the text and the sentiments.
I gave the image a filter to loosen the edges a bit.
This morning started off looking quite stormy, but it soon cleared and we had good weather.
Today I saw a small heron, which I have never seen before. It's about a third of the size of the large ones we usually have here. It's always exciting to discover 'new' species!
Autumn is on its wa, even though we still have summer temperatures:
The rain we had in the night made the fungi shoot up:
Have a great day, have fun, and take care.
Thanks a lot for coming by!
You r journal page is fantastic, love the idea, and the photos are wonderful, as always. I never knew there was a small heron! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, Valerie. I swear that woman looks a lot like my grandmother. This lady is heavier than Grams was, but the face is very similar. I swear, I almost started crying when I saw this. What a wonderful entry with what feels like a very, VERY personal memory to me.
ReplyDeleteNew heron, new fungi, same boat carrying people across the Rhine. Love the photos, of images I've seen before and those that are completely new.
Again, thanks for this beautiful AJJ entry today. Hope you have a marvelous rest of the weekend.
Lovely school piece! I thought that first fungi photo were owls!
ReplyDeleteYes they do look life fluffy owls at this stage!
DeleteFantastic journal page! Love the vintage image! Great photos too! Thanks for sharing! Happy PPF :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Valerie. What a fabulous journal page you have created. Miss Jones looks every bit like a teacher and I bet she was very strict too. Love the pictures and the small heron is beautiful. My day has just begun, so I'm writing this in my bedroom before going downstairs to face the new day. Hugs Rita xxx
ReplyDeleteAutumn is certainly knocking here, with sea-fogs and longer nights albeit the moonlight has been as bright as day.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a small heron like that before.
I think the last photograph of the fungus on a tree would make a great painting
What a great page today Valerie. The teacher looks so smart and caring and I love the look of the girls hair so neat and tidy.
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs with the heron and the wonderful painted boat. It was good to see the other photographs as it showed a sameness to how things look her with lots of berries and fungi.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
Hi Val, fantastic page today, nicely done. Enjoyed looking at your photographs too. The stormy sky is fantastic and I think would make a great painting :) T x

I love Miss Jones. I think she might possibly be from a piece by Normal Rockwell. Not sure, but it looks like his style. I think the kids figured it was a good way to waste class time...or at least that's what my kids would do! Ha-ha. You really caught the light on one of those mushroom photos. Hope its been a great weekend. Hugs Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hint, I will try to look it up!
DeleteA beautiful page Valerie and loved hearing the story. Great pics too especially those lovely funghi.
