Hi Everybody!
It was really cold outside today, but the sun was shining, and I enjoyed my walks. And I enjoy coming home to a warm room and a hot drink!
For my challenge at Tag Tuesday, anything goes, I have more tags as inspiration. The first was made for a kid, so is a non-scary one:
This one has been painted, stenciled and collaged, with die-cuts and leaves from the oak-tree in the front yard as embellishments. The toadstools were purchased:
And to get us into the Halloween mode, I have one of my decorations made some years back:
And I have some more photos of the beautiful, Gothic cathedral in Xanten:
Down in the crypt:
Here there are stones with the names of many of the concentration camps and of those from the town who died in them:
The mosaic lamb of God was beautiful:
And I loved this motive from one of the old windows which needs to be restored:
These photos were taken here at the lake around the corner:
I will show the pics of our hike around the lake in Xanten in my next post.
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Magnificent art Valerie! Loved them all.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful and touch the heart 🍂🎃👻🍁
The walk around the lake looks quite wonderful. I will imagine myself walking with you - and maybe sharing hot, steaming coffee at the end of the hike.
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun. Walking and coffee drinking are my fave hobbies!
Deletefun tags and decorations, enjoyed the photos too!

ReplyDeleteYour tags are INCREDIBLE, and your Halloween decoration is captivating. You put SO much work into your tags and it shows.
ReplyDeleteThat cathedral in Xanten is beautiful. The cloisters are amazing. And that crypt is also undeniably unique. Your photos are incredible today, dear. These are simply jaw dropping photos, especially in the cathedral and crypt.
Hi Val, good morning. Beautiful photos and fabulous Halloween art. Loved it all. In a hurry, got to get out with the kids. Hugs, S
ReplyDeleteMorning Valerie, oh yes it's a chilly start to the day here too. You've given Halloween for all ages today, I appear to have skipped Halloween makes completely this year. Especially love the second tag clever way to get dimension. That Gothic church looks incredible. Beautiful architecture. Sending warm Hugs Tracey xx
So viele Details!
Die Kirchenfenster sind sehr schön. Ach, ich muss auch mal wieder an die Seen.
Hab einen schönen Tag, GlG, Iris
P.S. das Banner gefällt mir sehr gut!
Danke! Hier ist es auch kalt und frostig!

I really like your Halloween decorations. Beautiful photographs of the cathedral. Have fun:)
Thanks Lucyna!
DeleteFantastic Halloween tags. I like the decor box you made a few years ago. That cathedral is stunning. And you're lucky you got to go in the crypt. (There's a church here in Connecticut that has a graveyard underneath it, in its basement. They have tours every Saturday, from April or May until the last weekend of October. Once again, I forgot to go until it was closed for the Winter season.) Your Fall foliage photos are nice. Your color changes are tracking pretty closely with mine, although you're farther north than I am.
ReplyDeleteI love these vintage and whimsical takes on Halloween. Those girls on the first tag are too cute. Perfect if you don't like spooky. And I love your 3d shelf display. That is perfect! And what a great church. So many cool things to see. Our churches here in New England are so plain for those Puritanical roots. Happy almost Halloween. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteOh wow Valerie your projects are absolutely AMAZING! What a talent you are and seems like it follows through to your photography skills! Thanks for all your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pinky!
DeleteWhat a wonderful tag! I love those sweet little children. And I also adore your Halloween decoration with the wonderful witch and potions. I'm looking forward to more from Xanten. That church looks beautiful and I always appreciate and honor the places that have Holocaust memorials. The glass of the windows is stunning and you're right about the Lamb of God. Glorious.
ReplyDeleteYes, some things / places / creations just seem to speak to you....
DeleteYour Halloween tags and decorations are lovely. The retro kids with the black kitty are so adorable. Artwork in the church is just beautiful as is the area around the lake. What a gorgeous day you had.
ReplyDeleteLove the header, pieces and decoration.
ReplyDeleteSo glad there is a lasting reminder for some of those who died in concentration camps.
Hugs
Yes, it's important not to forget what happened, and so many people today don't care or say that it never happened.
DeleteGreat photos again Valerie, the Cathedral looks beautiful inside and thank you for sharing the photo of the crypt a lasting memorial for those who died.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Lamb of God photo as well, in fact I would love to live close and be able to see this Cathedral for real.
The Halloween art is fabulous,a super cute children's tag and awesome projects.
Yvonne xx
Thanks Yvonne, it's really a lovely place and the cathedral is very beautiful.
DeleteI like your Halloween decorations, in particular that tag with the littles all dressed up and their coordinating embellishments :)
ReplyDeleteThe cathedral is an awe-inspiring sight! The art and architecture are gorgeous, and I'm always impressed by things this old which have survived to be treasures in the modern world. The lake has a good view for Autumn :)
We are lucky here to have so many historical buildings and places around US.
DeleteThe cathedral is stunning.Your work is so unique, cute and creative!
ReplyDeleteThose are really charming vintage Halloween images on the first tag - it's adorable. And I love the curved garden fence enclosing the real leaves and the tiny toadstools growing up against it. Nothing will keep a cat inside a garden, will it? Always off to cause trouble... Great to see your witch's shop too - such great little details in every inch. Amazing reflections on the lake!
ReplyDeleteAlison x
Thanks Alison. My cat was very scared of going out, and never left the garden or balcony. She had bad experiences as a kitten.
DeleteDein früheres gebasteltes Kistchen Halloween ist ja aussergewöhnlich und so hübsch!
ReplyDeleteWieder so schöne Fotos von dieser Kathedrale und bei dir!
Schönes Wochenende wünsche ich dir!
Lieben Gruss Elke
Wonderful Halloween makes! The tag is my favourite, I love the design with the beautiful golden colours, real leaves and the amazing 3D fencing with the cute black cat and bats - perfect 😁. The cathedral is stunning, the motive on the restored window is amazing 😀. I hope you've had a lovely week! Happy and creative wishes! Hugs, Jo x
