Today I have another piece for Vicki's 'light' challenge at AJJ. This was once again made from various photos asssembled digitally. The top one is a piece of a transparent, embroidered table cloth The eye and facial features were drawn and then superimposed on the cloth. The other ambellishments were collaged, and the text was added digitally:

I love the texture look your newest piece has Valerie. The stitching on that cloth overlay is fascinating to see. And of course, your face is great. I love how it's looking at the fish and sea creatures. You would think they don't work together but they do. Nice tags too. And you always find such fun funnies. She showed long necks and tresses
And birds perched on dresses.
She certainly lacked not for ambition.
Now how’s that for an opening comment? And now I see sea stars and fishes and an eye casting a glance over a briny realm. Perhaps there’s inspiration for another limerick there. And who knows what I might do with the strange and mystical birds of Balconia-by-the-Rhine? In just three days I will be departing for Cuba, well two really since I will be leaving the house at 1:30 in the morning to get to Toronto in good time for a 6 o’clock flight. It will be fun to see my friends again and to introduce others to the scintillating avifauna of this magical place. I will even celebrate my birthday there, probably more than I do here, since we don’t make much of such events at home. A friend told me I should smoke a Cuban cigar, but if I did that I’d probably be sick for a week! Maybe I’ll just hug Cuban girls instead. Mucho mejor! This morning I will be giving a presentation to an erudite and distinguished group on the winter birds of southern Ontario. The way that winter has been this year there will soon be no such thing. I will have to change it to the birds who came and never left! Take good care of yourself, drink coffee, copious cups of cappuccino in fact , eat pastries, gnaw on sausages, slurp sauerkraut, chat with Heike, and generally enjoy life. Hugs and kisses - David

I love this latest piece, the colour in the top left hand corner came as a wonderful surprise on this piece of fabric. Love the depth of the embroidery and the way the eye is so bold within the whole piece. The underwater scene in the bottom right drawing attention to the top left hand ,corner is inspired.

ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, sorry i am late again, but things happening here which I had no control over. Love the way you have manipulated the tablecloth with your layers, I just wish I was able to do things like that but me and digital work is like chalk and cheese. Still i can admire it and I love this piece of yours.
